I'd go for tyres in the first instance, the Distanzia's I have now are slower than the Conti Road Attacks I had on before. The next contributing factor will be you.
But I remember the day I picked the bike up, never ridden a Tiger before, or any trailie style bike. Set of down the road and nearly rode straight off at the first roundabout.
I could not get the thing to steer, it felt like it was going to run away with itself.
Nowadays things are a little different :-) but I still find if I assume the 'relaxed' upright riding position the feel of the front is very vague and turn in is down to knowing the bike will actually do it rather than any sense of grip being passed back to the rider.
Squash yourself up against the tank, balls of your feet on the pegs and get your head forward and there's a marked change in the way the bike feels.
And learn to ride your tyres, I know the Distanzias require a little forward planning, start the turn in earlier than you would expect and you're fine otherwise you get the feeling of running wide. Purely down to the tyres, Trail Attacks next for me now they're out as the Road Attacks turned in really easily.
