Isn't Glandular Fever a teenage problem? Late developer?

I'm now looking down both barrels of 60. Touch wood, no signs of serious disability yet, apart from a recent difficulty in reading maps closer than 3', perhaps it'll get better. Do satnav devices come with extension mountings - about 3' long?

It's frustrating, the body of a middle aged man, still with the mind of a 20 year old

You want to look at young women, but feel like a perv, so avoid eye contact.

You want to ride your bike all day, but the aches and pains say you can't.

You want to act like a big daft kid, but you know people will think you're "strange".

The list is endless................

Congrats anyway

You'll just have to get over this 50 thing. Five years from now you'll be saying you wish you were fifty. My uncle rode into his 80s. It's all in the mind except for the stock seat.

Fifty's not so bad. Just have to make some adjustments. Sunglasses with bifocal "cheater" lenses help me read the instruments or map on the tank bag. Dark glasses are all the better for staring at younger women too.

Wish my bladder was a better match for the Tiger gas tank though.

50 is the new 30!

Hey, 50 was seven years ago for me. Since then, I've quit smoking - 3 years now. Quit drinking - well, I can't say I was ever a heavy drinker, but now I'll have a beer maybe once a week, and a glass o' wine maybe once/month?

I quit eating all crap junkfood, all sugary deserts, and I avoid fast food/greasy food as much as reasonably possible. I try very hard to be smart about what I ingest. As they say "You are what you eat!"

Your priorities and outlook on life change as well. You no longer feel the need to "prove" yourself, and focus on the important things, like family, good living, respecting your fellow man, and so on. Stress around unimportant issues fades away, and you begin the "mellowing" process.

"So what" you say? "Who cares?" Well... I feel better now than I did at 40 that's for sure. Much more pep, stamina, and I feel stronger than ever. This is important if you are going to continue to ride. I plan on riding until they pry my bike out of my cold... dead... wrinkly... hands.

AARP? Hey, it's not so bad. I'm a card carrier, and you get discounts all over the place. Hotels, Car rentals, etc. They also have an excellent bike Insurance program, underwritten by Foremost. Old folks home? Not for me. Who wants to hang out with a bunch of people who do nothing but complain and go on and on about the Government... and Politicians... wait a minute! Isn't that THIS Forum?

You can't fight the inevitable, we all get older. But you CAN fight the aging process by livin' smart.

Happy Birthday?

I try to live by the words of that esteemed philosopher, Satchel Paige, who said "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was?"

I'll be 61 in a month. Sometimes i feel like I'm 16, sometimes 86

You are right... I'm 38 and feel like I'm 68 some days!
The stress of my current job, combined with all the "chores" I do around the house is making me feel "old". Any advice old timers?
