Question Help with pricing: (sadly, we must part)

Hi Chaps,

It is with much sadness that I must part with my beloved Tiger.
I have encountered some unwelcome ill-health that has steered me into the decision of avoiding 2-wheeled travel for at least 6 months!

I simply can't bare the thought of my bike standing in the garage not being ridden, and so I have decided to sell my beloved...with a view to buying another machine after I am fit enough again...

The problem I am having is deciding on a fair asking price. I have looked in Auto trader for some comparisons but there isn’t quite enough detail for me to judge....

Can any of you Guys give me a clue as to a sensible asking price range?

Here’s the details for the advert that I have drafted up so far (sorry no pictures yet)

tough nut

I just bought a used 2006. Exactly one year old with 1700 miles. Caspian Blue, all three hard bags, TOR, gear, yadda yadda for $8k.... That would make yours around $7k or a bit better.....

Good Luck with the health thing....

selling

If you are in the U.S.A. = do a search on Google for Kelly Blue Book-Motorcycles -OR- cycletrader.com .....They should have all the info you need

However, from observing your spelling...I'm guessing you're a UK resident.... there should be something similar to KBB or cycletrader available over there as well....

I should think she's worth between £4-4500 and now's probably the best time of the year to sell.

I had a heart attack at the end of February. I felt the same as you; too much bike for the moment. Put it up for sale for $7500 and had a full price offer within the month. Accepted, left the buyer on hold while I went out to get the paperwork, sat on the Tiger one last time, came in and called the sale off. Just now came in from a three hundred mile day! I guess what I am saying is...you may feel like **** now, but wait and see if things improve. You've got a great bike, one that is worth keeping 'cause they'll never make another like it. A friend in Montreal sold his '02 Tiger, without the accessories I have on mine for $6000 this month. The buyer drove all the way from Calgary to pick it up. A good Tiger, like a good women, is hard to find and most people hang on to them.

hi Richard
I have been looking for a tiger for a few weeks now. Yesterday a looked a one in Durham for £4995 at a used bike dealer. it was 56 plate with 5100 miles and as new condition, nearly new tyres, spotless capsian blue paint work, a new chain?? I have been on the MCN website and Tigers appear to get cheaper the further south you travel. Prices for private sales seem to be about £500 less than dealers so i would put it up for £4500 and see if there's any interest. Good luck and if your in the North of England send me a photo and I could make you an offer. Thanks Mark

Thanks again for all your thoughts guys!
this is much appreciated.

Since my last post, I have finished off and published the advert.

I have since found out that the book-price range is between (£4,100 and £5,100)

...But I've set the asking price just above the high end (£5,259) due to its condition, low mileage, matching top-box, lights upgrade, alarm & immobiliser.

Although the asking price is high, I am welcoming viewing & offers (I hope this doesn't put too many people off)

theres a .pdf here
http://www.roadar-northeast.co.uk/tiger/Tiger955i.pdf

and it is also on the UK biketrader (autotrader) here:
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk...=&max_mileage=
