I have the opportunity to buy a Tiger 855, year 94 with 64000 Km on it. Looks like both exhaust cores are heavily corroded (sounds very different). Anybody knows any other particular point I must look for before deciding?

Hi Luiz,
If the bike in question has two pipes, it is actually called a Tiger 900, but has a capacity of 885. Most people call them "Steamers".
Apart from the general advice, these bikes had dodgy starter clutches that were replaced under warranty. Make sure this was done. Other than that they are strong robust bikes. You should look at consumables like tyres, chains and brake pads and check things like steeering, swingarmand wheel bearings. Also check that the brake disk rotors are not worn. A good mechanic can measure this and the specification is stamped on them (I think). They do wear and if so they are not a small cost to replace. Also check for any modifiactions and make sur ethat they are done properly.

Good luck. They are great bikes and good value, but if you vcan afford it, i would look for a 855 fuel injected. they are more powerful, lighter and use way less fuel. In my opinion, they are better value - much more bike for few extra bucks.
