Tiger Impressions/Corbin
I've wanted a Tiger ever since I putted one around the course at a Experienced Rider Course through the MSF... A fellow student encouraged me to ride his after class was over. I was on my ST preparing for my Big trip in 2005. Last week I picked up a new to me 2006 Tiger.... I picked it up from Bill in Georgia...( thanks Bill ) and it is clean as showroom.
A got home this week and did up the legal stuff of insurance and registration, and went out for a first ride. I did zip it around in GA, but not for long.... I confirmed my expectation of a ride that fits me much better than the ST. (I picked up a Corbin seat from a local dealer to Bill (thanks again) for close to dealer cost.) Of course it is more of an upright position, and I am totally pleased with that! I also found the geometry to be such that i felt more in control in almost all situations. I really like the turn in and the feel of smoothness as I entered and exited corners. With the Corbin on, I am tip toeing at stop, which surprised me, As I am 6'3"... I guess I need to put the stock seat back on and try it too... The stock seat is so much more squishy than the Corbin, that is very firm to the touch. I ran 100 miles on the Corbin and I really liked the riding position, so I could get used to the tip toe at lights, or learn to lean it over for a one leg stance.
I will need to add a screen .. likely the CBailey #2, and I will also build out or buy crash bars... Gotta think I can fab a local set of crash bars for the price of some products I have seen online. After that I'll be set for a serious trip... MaineUSA to western US and 6 weeks of circling the out there. So many great roads and natural sites to see out there... I want to get to them before I can't ... I learned gobs on my previous 7k trip in '05 and look fwd to stretching my wheels... ...at near 49 I am too old for a Sprint ST...
anyone wanna buy a used ST.. it's Blue!!

I got it at (cough) dealer cost but it was still 275 once tax was paid...
I do have an issue... This is a Corbin for someone with a Yellow Tiger (if there is such a thing) as there is BIGHT yellow piping on the edges.... so it might go up for sale, but I DO like the feel of it.. I think there is something to the softness of the stock seat that adds to monkey butt, but I'll swap out to the stock seats next week and see...
Anyone with a yellow tiger interested in a deal on a new Corbin seat?
Finally posted pics of the ST I am selling... .tell anyone who ought to have an ST!.. I am selling the bike at a deal of a price..... it's in the TRN classifieds...

Congratulations on your new Tiger !
I've had Corbin saddles on Yamahas and BMWs, Sargent and Rocky Meyer saddles on BMW RTs, Triumph's own gel seat on an '06 Tiger and I never could go more than 125 miles, usually a lot less, on any of them.
Several months ago I bought a Russel Day Long Saddle http://www.day-long.com/ for my '06 Tiger and it's so much better in every way than any Corbin I've ever owned. I can now easily ride from for an entire tank of gas without stopping. 600 mile days are now painless.
So, if you sell your Corbin, try a Russell. As a bonus with the Russell, you can have them do just the front part of your seat or both the front and back. You get to keep the adjustability that the stock seat had and because the Russell is built on your original Triumph seat pan, it weighs less and fits perfectly, unlike any Corbin.
Front only was $369, both front and back would be around $500, in vinyl. Leather, heat and backrests are extra.

Congrats Jason
My son just got an '07 Sprint in Feb. I AM 49 and know I couldn't ride it for very long. I absolutely love my '06 Caspian Blue Tiger! Best bike I've ever had. Hope to keep it forever.
I just ordered a new Corbin seat. I think it was about $379. I gut arse burn after 100 miles or so on the stock seat and I know there is a lot of personal preferences when it comes to seats, but I hope the Corbin works for me. I ordered the oval backrest too so my better half and daughter can ride with me more comfortably.
You might see what Corbin would charge to change out the piping to a color you like. And yes, there is a yellow tiger, and orange, and green, and lime yellow, and black, and silver. Did I miss any? A real rainbow. I would like to have one of each color!
Welcome, and enjoy!

Welcome to the Streak! Hopefully you won't get ambushed too often while you're here.

I don't know what you're talking about being uncomfortable on the stock seat. I can go all day without a problem. I must admit though, I do wear comfy undies and sometimes sport skins.....

The Corbn for a Tiger is like a custom western horse saddle.
It is nice when you get up on it, but it takes some effort to get up there. Once you get underway, it is very confortable. It is a bit tall at the stoplights because it is a bit wider than the stock seat. The bike was meant to ride. Ride it.
I've had several Corbins, and contrary to some people's opinons, they are a very good seat, and a good value.
Put your money in the tank....
Ride the son of a b----...
Cheers....

Although I like the "amubush"
Thanks for the welcome!
Nicelink,, I was expecting something more 70's when I clicked...
In some circumstances I'd like the Ambush of tigers... especially when overtaking herds of harley's.... which is something that one needs to experience... as in Rt 28 in NC, headed back to the tent from Deals Gap, i was tuck behind a line of 8 cruisers... there is proud and then there is ignorant... I expect that kind of blinders-on driving here is Maine or Florida or another retirement center... So, in some situations I'll employ the ambush of Tigers...
I sent an email off to Corbin on Sunday. asking about modifying or swapping out the seat......
I am also on the lookout for a replacement Caberg, in blue of course, to replace mine aging silver unit that has done 25k miles and is gettign floppy.. however they are no longer sold in the USA.. I found on EBay, selling at a good price, but the guy was in the UK and didn't allow US bidders... grrrrrrr ( hey that has new meaning now....)

Stock seat
Congrats on the 06 purchase...I love my Tiger. I have a fairly new purchase of a used 05 and I am loving it as well. I have a used Corbin and I find it is so **** hard that I had to try the stock seat again which is more squishy. I am currently in AZ and I have to say before you drop a whople lotta cash on a new seat, I really enjoy the combo of beadrider and stock seat!! I had a ferocious case of monkey butt here when the temps started rocketing above 85 degrees. The bead rider is really comfy and zapped my monkey butt away. Maybe a sheepskin pad?
