Fortunately, I've never had to try and ride through London, but by the sound of it this can only be a good idea.

If it keeps us away from the dreaded four wheeled menace, there's going to be less accidents and a quicker, safer passage.

Boris
Oh deep joy.Now we have got rid of that Starinist git Ken,we can now expect some sensible ideas about how the roads are maintained and used.Bikes in bus lanes, such a good, safe idea. For him not to get this going just shows what an a### hole he really is!
To get more people on his silly little bendy buses(which don't fit the streets)he will keep us out of the bus lanes make us filter more and then have more accidents so he can say bikes are dangerous to stop people getting scooters or bikes and then they will pay to use his trains and buses, bow locks to him!Welcome Boris!

It's a tricky one, if you use the bus lane you are going to get around faster in some parts of town but you are also going to open yourself up to the turning left without looking brigade and the opening the car door people, personally I only ride in London once a week at the moment so I will probably stick to filtering and leave the bus lane to all the kamikaze scooters.

Hi Moose,

Sounds like you didn't like old Ken ?

The only thing I'm worried about is Ken was a normal person (for a politician) and Boris is as mad as a box of frogs. I hope Boris doesn't do something stupid, on transport issues, once he's settled in to the job.

Will he be a puppet for the Tories, or be his own person ?

Remember Hartlepool, where I live, and the monkey mascot mayor ??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1965569.stm

Ok you'd vote him in once, as a protest vote, but can you believe he got in again a second time - precious

Just to include our American cousins in this debate, it's as bad as voting George Bush in once ( I know he cheated !) as El Presidento, but to do it twice - as Homer would say - Doh !!

Anyway sorry to hijack the thread and turn it political - normal service resumed

The point is that many UK cities were intending to adopt whatever approach was in use in London where Ken's army wanted bikes to be kept barred from bus lanes. However Boris recently gave a categorical undertaking that he would allow bus lane use so hopefully this should free up a lot of road for us all.
