Scotland, Round ??

I'm planning a ride round Scotland in August.
From Morpeth up the West coast then Down the East?
Where should I visit, I did a similar one in 1990 with my Wife,Now i'm carrying my 14 year old Son.

Routes would be nice ..... email me please.

I will have in total 7 Days which I know is more than enough.

I guess it all depends on how long you're coming for. But the West is full of nice places You just head North and it will be fine . One word of caution, you'll be hitting North West Scotland in time for the dreaded midgie season. Bring some tea tree oil type stuff and some Avon skin so soft to repell them. The woodland fresh variant of skin so soft was the best, but I don't think you can find it anymore.
Don't be put off just come up anyway.

You have to go up the A82 over Ranoch moor to Glencoe, the A87 "road to the Isles" to Kyle of Localsh and Skye, the A896 around Loch Carron, (one road I didn't get to do myself was the Bealach ne ba road from Tornapress on the A896 over the mountain pass to Applecross, apparently that is absolutely stunning), the A832 around Wester Ross is lovely, and the run up the A835 to Ullapool is another beautiful ride if you are riding around the coast you will actually do most of these roads anyway, have fun.

All of the above, and throw in Oban if you can.

East coast is a bit dull, best coming down the east side through Grantown, the Cairngorms, Braemar, Blairgowrie, Perth.

Bill,
I can vouch for the campsite at Fort Augustus, reasonably priced and they have a coin-op tumble dryer (just in case you fall into the Caledonian canal as we all know it never rains in Scotland in the summertime). There is also a wee kitchen affair with a kettle, microwave and running water.
