power commander 111usb

chaps,, i have just bought and fitted a blueflame race can for the
955i tiger, 180 quid from www.blueflame.co.uk i,m now after the power commander unit but?? when i phoned my local dealer in bristol he said
power commander dont do a straight fit unit, they would have to custom map
another for use on the tiger which would be 249 quid for unit and 199 quid
custom map, plus dna air filter and 02 elimenator,,, coming to around 512 quid
is this right i know a few of you have this combo fitted could you let us know roughly if this sort of price is correct please cheers chaps,,,

ps if there are any rides down south i,m well up for it??

Yep! That's about what I've heard. That's one reason why I've left mine standard.

Angry

the reason why i wanted it, is because mine as standard just surges all the time and to be honest it bugs the hell out of me, i can safely say if this dont get rid of it, i will never buy another triumph in my life,, dont get me wrong
i love the look of the bike and the way it rides over 60 mph but round town its awful,,

Why would you want a Power Commander, when for £230 you can buy a Tuneboy that does far more and doesn't require any fittment?

Bearusa, if you simply fit the 02 eliminator for £20 it'll get rid of the surging. If you pay a dealer a few quid, they'll download the off road tune into the ECU.

Power Commander - no thanks !

Much better get Tuneboy. You can do custom maps. Power Commander can only do Fuel map and ingnition adjustment, while Tuneboy can do your own map, oxygen sensor adjustments, max revs, enrichment during heating engine, etc. Simply it almost as good as genuine Triumph diag tool.
You can load Triumph offroad exhaust map for example.

There is no reason spending $$ for hack called PowerCommander, while you can get much more for same money.

I was using Tuneboy with 'old' 955i Tiger and now with 1050 Tiger. Works nicely, I can also do full Engine diagnostics www.tuneboy.eu

tuneboy

i have heard so many downfalls about tuneboy, it actually reprograms the stock ecu and if things go wrong the bike wont run atall,, whereas the power commander runs from its own unit and if disconnected the bike will run from its previous settings held in stock ecu,,

how easy is it to use the tuneboy,, i have no idea about stuff like this and dont want to bugger my bike my bik up?

Bearusa,

I don't know where you're getting your information from but it's not correct.

The tuneboy is fairly easy to use, it's just a software program that runs on a PC and connects to the bikes port, which, in the case of the 955 Tigers is under the seat.

There's an off road tune for all the Tigers including yours. People only seem to have problems when they download the wrong tunes for their model. Even if that occurs, it's just a case of reloading the correct one.

If you don't feel confident with doing it yourself, simply get a Triumph dealer to download the tune with their equipment. It's exactly the same and you won't have to fork out for the Tuneboy, just their standard fee.

As far as I'm aware, with the Powercommander, it has to fool the ECU by giving it false readings to provide the correct fuel/air ratio. There's probably just as much likelyhood of the Power Commander corrupting the ECU as the Tuneboy.

Don't forget the 02 eliminator first though. £20 from Triumph online and cured all my low speed/high gear surging.
