There is no valve check/adjustment scheduled for the 18,000 mile service. Valves are checked and adjusted IF NEEDED at 12,000 mile intervals.

Last November I had the 18,000 mile service done on my 2006 Tiger in Sarasota at Hap's Cycle Sales. Actual mileage on the bike at the time was 20,000 miles.

Along with the 18,000 mile service I bought and had installed new front and rear sprockets, a new DID X-ring chain and had 2 new tires (bought elsewhere) mounted and balanced.

Total cost for the service, new chain and sprockets and the mounting and balancing of 2 tires was $554.23 The chain and sprockets alone were close to $300.

Maybe the guy, speaking broken English, meant 1000 pesos?

Haps was the better sounding of all-

They sounded like they were down to earth and straight, but I'm not due over there for a few weeks on my scheduled trips that I can drop it off and arrange service. I think I surely need a chain, and sprockets, but I'll tackle that myself with after market parts. I've got a buddy with a wholesale account at Tucker Rocky, or Nempco- whatever its called these days.

I live in Miami, lots of Spanglish, but I go to Spain in the summer, so I'm not against them, just stupidity, and that guy was stupid. He possibly meant to think, but forgot to, especially when he quoted me "$90 and hour and 6 hours is $720..." What a moron.

I'm worried about the past of this bike- if it had the service and valves adjusted at a dealer, is there a record?

$1,000 for a service is way over the top. I paid $700AUD, and even though I think that's a lot, it's the going rate here in OZ.

I hear that most motor dealers have a chart of work that they can refer to when quoting and that there is a specified time for a particular job. The time prescribed can be way over what it actually takes, but they can use it to provide accurate quotes and pocket the difference if it takes them less time. A sad indictment on the way we consumers are continually ripped.

I paid a little under $600 for the 12k on my 955 Sprint. Didn't need chain/sprockets and I let them install the overpriced Triumph fuel and oil filters as it was my first visit to the dealer and didn't want to seem a piker. I "think" the flat rate for the 12k without the chain and sprockets is 4 hours.

Thumbs up What? A Tiger In Miami?

I’m in Miami also...

They guy you talk to at Pure Triumph with his broken English is a nice guy, and a mechanic who takes the time to talk to you when you approach him. But he is not the owner of the dealer. The owner – British – has $$$ in each eye.

12K Service at the closest dealers to us are:
Pure Triumph. Ft. Lauderdale. $1000
Motorsports of Miami. US1 & 222nd St. $516.64 (I had it done 3 weeks ago)
Gulf Coast Motorcycles. Ft. Myers. $750.

Even $516.64 seems too much, but I saved almost $500 over Pure Triumph.

Pure Triumph – good to go for warranty issues.
Gulf Coast Motorcycles – good to go to purchase. I got $2000 off over the phone.
Motorsports of Miami – best of a bad trio for service.

Thanks for the info HeavyDuty. Keep it coming when you have more... Now the dealers at Spring Hill and Sarasota are #1 & #2 on my list. Nice rides around Spring Hill too.

After 14 month of ownership, finally another 955 Tiger in Miami.

SoFlo problem-

...is rent. The guy admitted he has a big building, and I know what it costs, I was friends with the guys who ran Buell in that same location 5 years ago for RossenHeimerMeyer. Along with that, I'm buddies with Eddie Trotta from Thunder, and he wanted me to check on that place to buy, and it was way overpriced.

Another overpriced landlord screwing up prices. I wouldn't touch that dump for service- no matter how nice that guy is... And Ian was the one I spoke to- is he the owner? Probably a money grubbin Jordy Chav Wanker...

I'm on the beach, mines a black with that silver claw mark, and until Thursday I rode around with a blond pregnant honey on the back- we had the baby on Thursday night... Rode it up until that morning... 8Lbs 2oz, 21" baby boy...

I’m very ignorant about custom bikes, but I know who Eddie Trotta is. Mostly from TV and Magz...

My bad about Pure Triumph. I assumed you talked to Lucho. I have just talked to a couple of the guys there. I don’t think the owner’s name is Ian. I have talked to the owner a couple of times, but that’s it.

I’m not at the beach, but my wife, me, and a couple of friends just opened a Wellness Club at 1335 Lincoln Rd. a few weeks back. My bike is usually parked out front. It is also a black Tiger. I don’t go everyday, but you can check, if the bike is there, stop by...

Oh, and you know you shouldn’t be “riding around with a blond pregnant honey on the back”. CONGRATS ON YOUR BABY BOY!!!

You know you are ruining my uniqueness in the area right?

Miami Beach Tigers-

There was a guy- maybe a French Canuck, he pulled up next to me during the boat show- pregnant honey at the time was 7+ months, and he was riding a new 1050 Tiger, so there are more. His was white, and he said he had one like mine and he said he rode it through the Andes or Patagonia or somewhere way south and up to Alaska.

I'm too big to ride this one that far, sorry, but my 1984 FLT is my long haul bike, but I do miss an enduro in places like Riga Latvia, or the countryside in Poland- roads make you wish you were riding something with 12" of travel.

If you're up in FLL, check out Thunders showroom, just to see it- its a great place to check out some incredible work. He's got bikes over the 100K mark, and a few of them sold for more than 150K. Also not a long haul bike, but nice to look at...

The manager at Van Dike owns a little Suzuki enduro, and there's a guy who parks a Dakar F650 with all the flaggy stuff there too. I park there sometimes, and even better is down next Segafredo- no tickets...

My apt. is in NW Miami. But I know where Thunder's Showroom is in Ft. Lauderdale. I will stop next time.

I will be looking around for your bike when I'm in South Beach.

Most days I'm a block and a half NW of the cinemas at Lincoln Rd.

Take care!
