Our dealership received a demo Tiger a while back. I have not had the opportunity to log very many miles on it, nor have I ridden any of the beemers, KTM's, Suzuki's etc.
But from my limited experience on this bike I have to say it is by far the best all around bike I have ever ridden!
I had such a great ride yesterday I just felt the need to post.

now you know why we all rave so much about the Tiger. She does everything well and nothing badly so like you say, an ideal all-rounder.

It's kind of difficult to trust the response you get when asking, "How great is your bike?" - I know your not asking, but my point is - we are all biased. I'm very new to the Tiger scene. I've had my Tiger only 2 weeks and have only put 550 miles on her, but I have had several other recent model bikes in recent years and I am also convinced that the Tiger was the best choice for me. I am amazed daily at how nice this bike is. Then only other bike that amazed me so much was the Aprilia Futura, but it is quite a different animal ;-)
I haven't owned a bike that I would not recommend (at least for someone), but I am already more in love with the Tiger than I have been with any other bike except maybe the Vespa GT200 - sweet.

Recent bikes owned:
2000 Kawasaki ZR-7s
2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500
2002 Yamaha Warrior 1700
2003 Honda Valkyrie 1500
2003 Honda Goldwing 1800
2003 Triumph Speed Triple
2004 Aprilia RST1000 Futura
2005 Triumph Tiger
2005 Vespa GT200

Did you actually own any of them long enough to find out what they were really like?

Well, I suppose that's a matter of perspective, but I logged over 42000 miles on six of them. I only put about 30 miles on the Mean Streak - it was my wife's bike actually. The Triumph and Vespa are new and have 550 and 42 respectively, so it's possible I could change my mind later. How many miles must a man ride a motorcycle before he knows what he's talking about? I'm not claiming expert status - far from it. I just like to have options and I like to have the best whenever I can.
