G'Day from Tasmania,
I'm a new boy here. I've ridden a BMW R1150 RT for the last 4 years; but saw the light when I had a test ride on a 2nd hand Tiger. Although it had 64,000kms on the clock the engine and gearbox were so sweet I was converted after a half hour ride.
Now I'm wainting for a new to arrive down under from 'the Old Country'. I've ordered one in British Racing Green. Apparently Triumph have stopped making them in BRG, and I was lucky enough to get the very last one to arrive in Australia.
The ship is due to arrive 30th March, so I'll get the bike in early April. I can hardly wait.
I've got 10 day 4,000km ride planned for late April - after its 1st service.
In the meantime, to save myself going nuts waiting , I'm enjoying reading everything on the forum.
Thanks for all the 'good oil'
:hammer:

Welcome Tassie. It's good to see you've come to your senses and bought a Tiger. Enjoy. :-D

Hi Roger,
Welcome. There are many Tiger riders in Melbourne. We all would be jealous of the fact that you can step out the door and ride around on Tassie roads. For those that don't know, Tassie is a relatively small place has excellent freeways to travel rapidly and many small and interestinf windy roads. It is a little chilly in the winter months, but all around a great place to ride.
Good luck with the bike and unlike your namesake I hope you aviod extinction.

Greetings
How seriously did you consider the 1150 or 1200GS? Just curiosity on my part, I like to hear how people compare various models. I never rode the BMW because of the price difference.
Congratulations on your purchase decision. Be interested to hear your impression after you get a bit of time in on the new Tiger. btw, I like that BRG too. Just a tad darker version of my roulette green. :-D

Hi Whoa,
Thanks to you and everyone else for the warm welcome to the 'streak' of Tigers (collective noun for tigers!).
I was pretty happy with my BMW R1150 RT - not much of problem with the dreaded surging issue; but more and more reports were coming into the forum of spline failures with my model year. Spline repairs cost big bucks on beemers, so I looked at getting the new R1200 RT, but the price is $27,600 (Australian) + on road costs. Just by chance I was in the local Triumph dealers and saw the Tiger. After a test ride I was sold - only $15,890 + on road costs. The tiger engine and gearbox are far superior to the beemmer's. The riding position is very comfortable. That engine is awesome, and at that price I could almost get two for the price of one beemer! No contest.
Just have to wait now until early April for thr right colour - British Racing Green! :-D
