I can't decide between the Happy Trail or Givi panniers. Givi cost less but some are goofy looking. Happy Trail look the part but they won't return an email. Also How easy are the Happy's to remove?

I have no questions about the Givi quality. I have an E460 top case and a set of Keyless on my ZR7S. The Keyless lids seem filmys and are tops hard to align when loaded. The E460 seems to have a stiffer lid. I like the look of the keyless but prolly get the E360's because they are $100 less.

Anyone use the Happy Trail? Also the price of the Happy's is of ?. The page says $747, once you add it to the cart its $950.

Happy Trail

My money went on the Touratech Zega panniers and I definitely have no complaints, easy to fit and remove, secure if you fit the locks, very durable and a good shape for loading although not too aerodynamic, but its touring you don't need to be 100+. I also use the Touratech inner bags which means you don't need to remove the box every night with your gear. Combine these with a Givi V46 top box again with an inner bag and a Baglux tank bag and you've got more space than you really need. Works for me, interesting to hear what others use and prefer though as its all a personal thing really.

Give me about $1000 your $$$. Cost is an issue. :-)

Normally I woud remove the side case for off road use, I have had the bike on some tight trails and would not want the extra width or wieght.

Yeah, fair point, your probably suffering from the exchange rates at the moment, not good if your buying abroad with the $ , good for us though!

I've used the GIVI stuff before. Very well built. The top box I have (which I think is the same as the side cases 'cepting mounts) is on it's second bike. Still works and looks good, never even a hint of leak and makes a pretty good cooler when camping.

All that said, I replaced the stock Tiger panniers with a set of aluminum panniers from Jesse. They are not cheap but look the business, are strong and come powder coated.

You might try looking for a used set of stock Tiger panniers. They look great on the bike and work reasonably well.

I am leaning toward the Givi simple because, like you, I have transfered the bags from bike to bike. For about $675 I can get the mount and all 3 cases.
