Triiumph TOR, pro's and con's
Yep, I've reached that point. TOR's or no TOR's? I have a couple of questions before I leap.
I've heard some say it takes a few "tunes" to finally get it right. I'd hope Triumph has it all sorted by now.
What is the milage before and after?
Does it really smooth out the initial jumpy throttle?
And finally, is the power increase really noticable, or it is primarily for sound that most make the change? (I have no problem with the stock sound.)

I have an 07 Speed Triple, but my comments should be the same.
For starters, the bike........starts easier and gets slightly better gas mileage with the off road tune and pipe. Seems to rev quicker, or smoother but hard to notice any real seat of the pants performance gains.
On the hwy, I have gotten as high as 60 miles per gallon, but that was keeping the speed down.
Might get better if the conditions were perfect. (tail wind, good temps and flat ground)
It is a little louder, but not by that much. I miss the sound of the stock exhaust at times, but I still prefer the TOR system.
So, yes I would spend the money again.

I took an 07 Tiger 1050 on demo with Triumph's ORC and tune.
Each to their own, but the noise became very irritating and the bike for me, still exhibited a very on/off, switch like throttle action.
I've often read, it's difficult to notice a 10 bhp increase on a 100 bhp bike, especially when the gains are usually towards the upper reaches of the rev range. Given that you're very unlikely to gain as much as that anyway, I don't think any gains are going to benefit what is already a quick bike, with a broad, flat torque curve.
IMO, it's more about the acoustics and whether you like that extra noise and attention. I've got an offroad can for my 955 in the garage, which, is highly unlikely to see the light of day again.
Pays yer money and takes yer choice.

Tor
When I picked up my Tiger in 06 I had the dealer install the TOR pipe and Tune. I have NEVER had any issues with the mapping. Bike runs strong with a nice, slightly deeper growl at idle. when it opens up a bit at higer revs, It develops a wonderful sound. I wouldnt even think twice about doing it. For me its just right.

I agree, I have an '06 with TOR and (TUneboy modified) offroad tune. It really just bypasses the limitations put in place by OEM emissions limitations. Puts the bike where it belongs. Not much louder, just growls at appropriate times. Power is better, takes out the flat spots. Just do it.

My 07 with the TOR can and tune is appreciably louder than stock. My dealer set up the bike, originally, with TOR tune and the stock can. I think the bike ran as well as with that set up as with the TOR can. If your not necessarily looking to make a little more noise, I'd suggest you try the TOR tune with the stock can first. That will richen up the mid range and take some of the "hunting" out of the system.

My 06 is exactly the same.
Any poor running is rectified with the tune and o2 sensor eliminator and performance is
increased.
The can obviously increases power slightly in the upper rev range, but the only thing you really notice is the increased noise.

I got my can & tune installed about a month ago. I get about the same mpg, but the low rev throttle action has smoothed out totally. The sound is awesome. I can't really notice anymore hp but I think I just gun it more due to a natural urge to hear the growl! I wish I would have had it done when I bought it. Don't think twice about it.

I'm on the fence about the TOR setup, too. When I was at the dealer they had a Tiger with that setup. When the sales guy drove by I noticed a plume of blue smoke coming out the can. I assumed it might be running too rich. It was a little loud for my taste. I think I might wait a while. This dealer(Gengras in Hartford, CT) won't do the tune without the can.

Playinthestreet,
That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks.
And mattf301, what reason did that dealer have for not installing the TOR tune on a bike with the stock pipe?
