I might be imagining this, but I think my bike is running cooler with the tor. Another + for TOR!

Rather than purchasing the TOR can and dealer installed tune I got the Tuneboy and installed the TOR tune myself on my 00 855i with stock can. Interestingly the operating temperature was reduced by half. In stop and go slow traffic the temp gauge rarely reads above the half way mark and it has never gone into the red zone since.

I’d read that Triumph recommended that dealers load the latest tune each time a machine was in for service. The Tuneboy indicated I had the latest 955i tune in it at the time. Just for giggles I loaded the last version of the 885i TOR tune and was really impressed with the changes. The bike became more driveable at lower speeds and fuel mileage improved. The engine had a different sound at idle. It did lose its burst of power after 4k rpm but I rarely reach those levels anyway.

Well, after reading conflicting posts, I think I'll leave well enough alone for the time being. Unless I spring for the TOR pipes, I won't put the TOR tune on the stock pipe.

I'd like to hear more from Playinthestreet to find out if there were any adverse effects. It doesn't sound as if there were, but I don't want to be out on a long cross-country trip and have something fail midway.

My tech thought it would smooth it out more by running richer. He didn't say anything about too much back pressure. I'll ask again.

When I purchased my Tiger, Jan 07, the off road can was not yet available. I subsequently moved from St Louis to CA. I don't know the exact mileage but it was probably 3000 +/- when I decided to install the can. I called the tech in St Louis who always did my bikes and asked about the TOR tune and he said they had put it in prior to delivery. Said they did that with all the new Tigers whether the buyer wanted the can or not. So... I've never ridden without the TOR tune. I know that I did not experience any of the "snatchy" throttle or mid-range surging/hunting that many of the early 07 Tiger buyers complained of. The exhaust can showed a somewhat rich condition but mileage was, and has been, low to mid 40s with either can.
