My favorite is a route/circuit rather than a specific road but it does have a series of brilliant of roads that just blow your mind and I never tire of it, we do it often on a Thursday night in the lighter nights and its about 120 miles.

We meet around the Erskine Bridge and cross the Firth of Clyde heading up the side of Loch Lomond take a left onto the A817 military road heading to Faslane/Garelochhead then onto the A814 which is a brilliant section of road, very narrow, twisty with a lot of hump crests where literally you can lift off the road with a bit of speed. The road follows the waters edge of Loch Long and takes you into Arrochar, from here you head up the A83 along the side of the Cobbler and up and over 'the rest and be thankful', take a left at Loch Fyne and head down the A815 again following the Loch, you then head inland along the side of Loch Eck and down into Dunoon where we catch the last ferry over to Gourock and head back up to Glasgow. I prefer doing it this direction as the ferry is always a great way to end the night as you never get fed up with the scenic crossing no matter the weather. I could not guess how many times I've done this route and the differing weather but its always brilliant. We can add other roads to this route both fast and single track for a day run and end up at 250-300 miles.

Tango,

Aye, as I recall it was the 31st of July 2004, but I cannea find how to post a photo to prove it...
If you take a left at Chrianlarich and head down the A82, making for Loch Lomond, at the village of Inverarnan, it's only four or five fast miles, on the left there is the Drovers Inn, they do fantastic food, mainly Scottish fare.
Don't expect grandeur, but do say whit like, or, if you are from Aberdeenshire, fit like, (hello) to the bear in the entrance hall.
Yeah Tango its good to visit the Drovers on the bike because you need a 200 mile run after that to get rid of the smell in your nose and your clothes from that bear and the other things that have been hanging around on the walls for two centuries, I'm sure Rob Roy's Kilt is on the wall and he's still in it. In addition I'm sure the open fire just smokes into the bar added to the other medicinal substances that get smoked in the bar of an evening. But it is a good place to stop. :-D :-D :-D

Yeah it's got character by the cart load and I think it was dumped by a cart :-D
But I love it, it's just like a bothy, no pretence

I don't know about Rob Roys Kilt, but is that not his Claymore on the wall.
It's also one of the oldest pubs in Scotland, and I reckon that every thing in there has been there since new, including the paint on the walls.

You should try going in when both fires are lit, it's a fair reek.

I grew quite fond of The Drovers, coz I used to live in the farm house behind and to the left of it. And with 140" of rain a year it was quite often the dryest, warmest place around.
