BMW 800GS short test drive

Hi,
Just to let you guys know. I had a short testdrive.
Plus side:
+ steers like a bicycle
+ very nimble
+ amazing smooth power delivery , almost as good as the 955i
+ no buffeting !

Negative
- made in China , no idea about quality
- price
- has an almost instant on/of reaction
- my but felt a bit 'ought' after just 30min.
- is not a Triumph and a Beemer (what could be worse?)

Bye for now

I don't know about the whole bike, but they are setting up a line to mass produce single and twin cylinder engine casings in China. I was under the impression that was just for the local market, but who knows for sure.

The day I pay German prices for a Chinese motorcycle will probably coincide with my starting to wear pink tutus and my induction into the communist party.

This is a bike I really like the sound of.

As for being made in China; many manufacturers (certainly cars) have all or part of there products built in other countries, like Mexico, Brazil, South Africa etc. It wouldn't particularly worry me as long as they have quality controls in place; which I'm sure they would.

Mighty Fine!

Hey Marty

That's a nice seat cover there! Where could I get one of those?

Jim in Austin (or Oz-tin)

Hi Jim. Yeah, great cover. It was on the bike when I bought it, but I think it is an original Triumph one. It fits perfectly.
