VIN Enquiry

Hi members, has anyone checked their VIN number on the TRIUMPH website to check for recall or tech update? I typed in my Tiger VIN and it recomends taking the bike back to the dealer for free update but my dealer says that there is nothing outstanding???

Just tried it, and it said the same thing, "There are outstanding service bulletins or recalls, and to contact dealer WITHOUT DELAY to have the bike upgraded or modified at no cost to you"

Somehow I think it refers to remaps etc, or the occasional 1050 that eats its oil before breakfast, or maybe they intend to sort out the coolant that leaks from my cylinder head when the engines cold a common problem I believe?

There have been a few. The first one that I remember was with the front brake caliper--affected '07's before a certain VIN number. The next one I remember was the one about the routing of the vent and overflow hoses on the tank--apparently some were assembled with the hoses reversed. The next one I remember is the correction for the computer read-out that tells you how many miles you have till the tank is empty. Originally, the computation would be correct, but once the bike was turned off after the distance got under 50 miles (not sure about the km) the distance would read 0 when the bike was restarted. The fix came out about 6 months ago and entails loading a new map (tune) into the bike's ECM. There may be others I am not aware of--I haven't been to the Triumph web site to check recently.

PeteH,

I don't think your coolant leak is a common problem. I have been reading the threads on tiger1050.com for over a year now, and I have only seen a very few that had any coolant leak problems. I think most of them were due to a faulty radiator cap if my memory is correct.

The most recent recall is not actually anything to do with the bike, but is for the top box mounting rack. Because this can be sold seperately over the parts counter, Triumph aren't sure who has one fitted and who doesn't so they have had to contact every owner.
