Given that the 05 Model was released in March 2004 is it likely that the 06 model will be released soon - even if it is only minor/cosmetic changes? :???:

Possible, yes. But likely? No. There is no necessary connection between when one model year starts and the timing of the next.

They could do something with the Tiger in late spring or early summer--and they could just as easily not. They might even do like they did with the 2005 S3 and Sprint, which they showed as prototypes last September, but which won't be in actual production until this spring. Too many variables in this business (parts availability from vendors, quarterly sales results, other models ready for introduction) to say anything about Triumph's plans until John Bloor himself does.

the 05 IMHO was rushed out to try to deflect away from BMW's new bike. I think they would have been better waiting to this year and replacing it with the bigger engined variant. Will we get that in the Tiger for 06? Depends on feedback on the bikes with it this year I suppose but I wouldnt necessarily hold my breath.

According to what I was told by a dealer, Triumph are developing the Tiger Sport, maybe this will have the bigger engine??

Thanks for the replies guys, the reason I ask is that I am on the point of ordering the 05 model for a March delivery. The dealer has stated that he has no knowledge of any forthcoming changes, but I just wanted some feedback in case someone knows otherwise

Thanks

Go on get it ordered, you could wait forever if you keep on waiting for the next roumoured release to arrive.

But seriously, sometimes the dealer don't get to know about a new model arriving until it is just about due to hit their showroom floor, helps get rid of "old stock," cos if word gets out, they end up having to heavily discount outgoing models to shift them off the forecourt. So dont be too sore on them, mind you, sometimes they are economical with the truth for the same reason.

I had my '02 tiger in for the 24k service last week, and discussed the possiblility of purchasing a 1050 motor a few years down the road to drop in my bike, might really freshen it up. He said the Tiger 955 engine has a different design head on it than the Sprint and Daytona (shim over bucket verses shim under) physically different sized, and he doesn't think that new motor would fit in the current Tiger without a frame/motor mount redo. That kinda sucks.

I don't think we will see a new Tiger until they have re-designed it around the 1050cc lump.

The new motor is going to be the modular unit that the 955 became, with derivitives going in most of the range. The sprint has the first, then the ST3, the daytona and Tiger will be next i reckon ??

But what can we expect from what will have to be a new design ? I think it will be one or ther other. Either a more road biased version (like a multistrada?) or more towards the GS adventure style with more off road capability.

I dont reckon it will be as middle of the road as it is at the moment. But what would you prefer ?

Me personally....the more road biased, as i do 99% of my miles on the tarmac. ...... i guess we'll have to wait for those exclusive spy pics as and when MCN get 'the scoop'
