Question Pilot Road tyres and road noise

Last week I fitted a set of Michelin Pilot Roads to my 06 955i Tiger as I intend to use my Tiger on sealed roads and not off road riding. Comparing the Pilot Roads profile to the Anakees there is much more lean angle. The grip is very good. The bike seems to handle corners much better. My Tiger is stock and one of the most quiet bikes I have ridden for some time. One thing I have noticed however is road noise. I didnt notice this with the Anakees so I assume its from the new tyres. Im wondering if this noise will deminish as the tyres wear or this is just what these tyres do. I have only done about 100 miles on these at present.

Cripes! I have trouble hearing the bike through my ear plugs and over the wind noise.

My memories of your roads in NZ when I visited was that they were surfaced with coarse knobbly bits which made so much noise it made it difficult to hear the radio in the hire car.

Are you sure you haven't over tightened the chain when refitting the wheel?

I've not noticed any more road noise, although I find the wind noise on my 05 Tiger, even with earplugs,is very bad so probably couldn'ttell. I would expect the block profile of the Anakee to create more noise. The main thing is that the Piolts are far superior on tarmac and they last well too.

FWIW - I installed Pilot Roads on my 2005 Tiger, and found them to be much quieter then the Anakees. Also, smoother riding and better handling as well.

Well I took your advice blacktiger on checked the chain. It was way to tight. I slackened off to the specs, and then a little bit more. Magic, the noise must have been comming from the sprocket. The tyres, I have a little bit of good road with some twisties and sweepers nearby. Where the Anakees were starting to walk out on the edge of the tyre a little during the turn the Pilot is firm and feels secure. Im doing the run much faster and I have not been to the edge of the tyre yet. Thanks for the replys.
