Pilot Roads or Road Attack

Im looking for a " Road Tyre". The Pilot Road's and the Road Attack's are about the same price here Downunder. Any thoughts on these boys and girls?

Both are good tires, but I'd recommend the Conti Roads. I just put on the Conti Force for cold weather riding.

AAARGH NOT ANOTHER TYRE THREAD.

But seriously, there are as many opinions about tyres out there as there are riders so be prepaired for options to be offered. Best tyre choice really does depend on how & where you ride.
I am currently on my first set of Pilot Roads having come from Anakees, I like them a lot but I also liked the Anakees which some guys on here don't. I would buy either type again, The Anakee is noisier and not as good on wet tarmac as the Pilot Road but lasted really well. probably quite a bit longer than the Pilot Roads will. I do like the way the Pilot Roads handle though so will probably go with another set of them next time round.

Have fun trying out whichever you put on.

As Big d says, there are so many opinions out there as far as tyres go.
My choice of a pure road tyre would be the Conti Road Attacks as I have had good experience with them on my previous Sprint.

With the Tiger I think it looks better with a slightly more chunky tread which is why I will be fitting Conti Trail Attacks when the Battlewings are worn out.

I've owned both and wish my answer were a simple "Choose this brand or that" but of course, it isn't. The Michelins lasted 8K. They were great tires until they squared off, then the handling went away. The Contis didn't last as long as the Michelins, only 6K but they handled better through the tire's life span. I'm on Avon Storm STs right now. I've 5K on them, and they're beginning to square. The ride on the STs is more supple than the other two. Just MHO.

Interesting because when I asked the AVON reps at our NEC show in November '07 they told me that they don't yet do a Storm front. You have to get an Azaro front and a Storm ST rear.

oooh tyres, my favourite :-)

Got 9k (or was it 9.5 ?) out of a pair of RoadAttacks this year.

Lovely tyre, even when cold its got good grip and feedback.

It does look a bit thin and round on a Tiger, and it's turn in you could describe as sudden but you get used to it.

Started to cup/square off towards the end of its life but I managed to wear the edges down a bit over a 1k long weekend.

I'm now running Avon Distanzias for the winter because they're oh so cheap, and grip well. Can't swear for the mileage yet as inherited the previous pair.

TrailAttacks would have been my choice if they hadn't been more expensive than another pair of RoadAttacks, maybe next time.

I just checked, both tires are marked "Storm." Guess your rep was blowing smoke.

Thanks for the responses guys. I ended up getting the Pilot Roads fitted up to my rims today. After fiting up to the Tiger I might have to go for a ride tomorow, its a National Holiday Downunder. WX fine with a bit if Sth-Easterley. Scrub em in and " FIRE FOR EFFECT".
