oil filter stuck

hello to everyone. here is my problem. 2 days ago i ve noticed a small oil leak from the oil filter of my 06 tiger. i already had done 1500 miles with this filter and no problem so far. i tightened it with a filter tool too much i think and the leak got worse. trying to loosen it afterwards in order to change it for a new one, it turns but does n't come out. has anyone experienced this problem. what maybe the damage on the inside of the oil plate. what do i have to do to get it out?
Thanks

You have to remove it. I suspect it has sprung a leak at the join where the base of the filter joins the " cup " of the filter. It may be spinning on this join. I would " Butcher " the cup part off the filter, remove the filter part. Then you can get hold of the base of the filter. Using some grip type tool , spin it off.. Good luck.

I guess you dont need to be told these filters can be put on by hand when fitting a new one. As my good wife tells me from time to time " If all else fails try reading the directions"

1 On too tight.
2 Had a knock.
3 Junk filter.
4 Prob several more reasons.

There should be a rubber ring between the filter and the engine. Soooo hopefully there will be no damage.

Ha Ha "your wife is a wise woman" .....I guess after 29 years married she reads me like a book.

Speaking of filters; I use the K&N filter which has the nut for easier removal.

I think you have either a faulty filter or caused damage by over tightening it. You should not have to fit it using a tool, hand tight is enough, always remember to oil the seal before fitting.
Remember, you are tightening into an alloy block.
