05 v 06 differences + service intervals

Grateful for any advice about obvious visual differences between the two models + any info on key engine/frame/VIN numbers which mark the change. Finally, what is the service requirements/schedule. I am in Australia if that has any bearing on things. Thank you for any info.

Mike.

What I Know

Changes for 2006:
- New cylinder head and crankcases with revised cooling hose routing for a visually tidier engine (basically tucked the hose behind the head)
- Backlash eliminator gear for reduced noise and vibration
- Revised gear change internals

2006's came in Jet Black, Caspian Blue and Aluminum Silver colors

2005's came in Aluminium Silver, British Racing Green, Lucifer Orange

my tiger was registered in sep 05 but is black, so i guess it's not an'05 but perhaps an earlier model?
what actually are the date changes of the models from 2003 onwards and how can i tell which mine is?

I believe the VIN prefix tells you - mine is SMTTG730WT4 followed by the serial number. I believe the final 4 denotes 04 model year, but perhaps someone can confirm this?

Serial Numbers

MAybe so, mine starts with SMT700FR96J then the serial number.

Mine is an '06

SMT stands for Triumph
700FR is model
96J is motor type, year, and final drive ratio

I have run 2 tigers now and log all the fuel.

My '05 averaged 50.19mpg over 6,500 miles. My '06 has averaged 52.19mpg in 3,500 miles.

This is good economy for a 1000cc motorbike.

Imperial vs US gallon

Just asking......

50.19 miles/gallon(UK) = 41.7919173 miles/gallon(US)

That's actually not all that great
