Well, after long and hard consideration I put my 2012 Tigger up for sale in the classifieds. It's not because I don't like it, matter of fact I LOVE it! Why would I do it then?
It comes down to touring with a passenger. My wife refused to get on the Scrambler after going on a few long rides with me when I first bought it. That's why I bought the Tiger. I thought it would be a great bike for two-up touring. At first it seemed like the right choice but soon after some long rides she started to complain again.
To make a long story short I'm going with an Indian Chief Springfield. We recently moved to the southwest and have some close friends who own a Road King. I took her out on that monstrosity and couldn't get her off of it. She actually liked it!
I, on the other hand, hated it, so I took the Indian out for a test ride and fell in love. The only cruiser I can actually say that about.
I am afraid I'll be sorry I did it later on down the road, but for now I think this was the right decision for me. I'll get the Ol' lady to ride more often which means I'll get to ride more often too. I'll miss you guys but I'll still check in every now and then.
I'm surprised you didn't consider the Explorer. My wife loves it-much more comfortable 2 up than the 800. MUCH better than some horrific barge of a cruiser. Oh, well, at least you had the sense not to buy a Harley (Corporate motto "yesterdays technology tomorrow!")
What doesn't your wife like about the Tiger?
Mine loves riding on the back of my Bonnie once I put the King N Queen seat on it. We've done several overnight and camping trips off it.
She's not happy with the Tiger yet,
1. Seat is torture, for both of us. I just got a Sargent, she hasn't ridden with me on it yet...
2. She can't see around my head. On the Bonnie she was in a sweet spot for vision, just a little lean either way and she can see between my helmet and my shoulder. The Tiger she's dead center on my helmet, and has to lean far out to see. Hoping the Sargent seat helps this too.
I'm sure you already considered this but why not just keep both? The Tiger isn't really worth that much money and its such a different bike from the Indian. I have a Harley Ultra Classic that I do most of my long distance touring on and the '14 Tiger for a complete change of pace. I love having the option.
+1 for keeping the Tiger for yourself and adding a cruiser if it's doable for you. It's hard for any bike to satisfy all needs. I myself am planning to add a third, a cruiser as well.
I did but in all honesty I like the Indian better. It is an amazing bike. You have to actually ride one to appreciate it. I was floored when I took it out for a test ride. I've never liked any cruisers until I tried the Indian.
The R3t is a much better bike than the indian I think of it as the motorcyclist's road king. My dad in his infinite wisdom told me the HD is the worlds biggest vibrator, once around the block and she'll be ready to go! The R3 doesn't vibrate like a v twin but it gets down the road. I chuckle at the amount of married men who reply after I ask them why a harley they say their wife made them. When I told my wife no more harley's she decided we needed the Indian roadmaster, with a decent paint scheme they wanted $34.000 and i'm 5'8" 170 and 56 years old I told her no, I don't give a rats a s s whats in the neighbors garage or what they think of my ride because if any of them had a clue they wouldn't be wasting money on those over size, over weight, under powered, over priced, pieces of crap that have no more american parts than any other bike on the road, But that's just me, your money you gotta do what works for you and I wish you many safe and hassle free miles.

I don't care what anyone else rides either. I don't really see what that has to do with anything though. And as for wasting money, that is a pretty subjective thing.
Doesn't sound to me like you've ever actually ridden an Indian though because they are nothing like what you've described. The ride is what sold me on them. They do not handle like an 800 lb machine. Once you get going they are nimble, can stop on a dime, have incredible power and are smooth as glass.
The salesman told me to put my hand on top of the engine at idle. It was like putting your hand on the dining room table. No vibration whatsoever.
I'm getting into mine for right around $23K brand new by the way.

If you haven't looked at a T-Bird 1600/1700, do yourself a favor and do so before pulling the trigger on the Indian. You can get a really nice low mileage used one for under $8K and keep the Tiger too!
I never rode the Indian but it sounds like polaris invested considerably to get the bikes right and i'm sure you'll love yours. sorry about the business but it felt necessary being a Triumph forum and all.
