Grow my legs?

I'm the (over-all) happy owner of a 2006 955i tiger. Great bike, gets compliments everywhere i take it. even my Harley buddies like it. Smokes all but the hardcore race-replicas (one day I'll have to apologise to that Monster I beat on US 20 heading towards Alabama). It's classy, unusual and fun. But, there's a problem...

I'm 5'11". My inseam is 32. I've already had the front lowered an inch and a half. But, the bike is still a bit too tall. I'm unable to flat foot at a light and that bothers me (history of left knee problem and I don't trust myself to be able to support this heavy of a bike without both feet). Can the Tiger be lowered anymore? I truly love the bike, and about another inch would make it perfect (and remember this is Georgia,USA and very hilly).

I am about the same size and I have not lowered my bike.

I am interested to hear that you have lowered it at the yokes.

You should be able to get a bit more out of the seat.

Is it a new bike?

I just left mine set on the delivery settings for the back suspension and carried lots of load in my top box and side boxes and two up as much as I could.

This got me down and the suspension is settling down nicely now.

I do a lot of rough gravel road work. (NZ South Island is probably as hilly as Georgia?)

I like the sitting position of the bike as standard and am loath to change it.

Like you, taking off and landing can turn us into a baby Albatross at times but it does get better!

Have you got engine/tank protection crash bars fitted?

Persevere, the bikes are worth it they just go and go.

I will stay with your thread. Cheers John.

I didn't have this particular problem but I did get a Wilber's shock for mine and they offered to make it shorter to lower the bike so that must be one possible way to do it (not exactly cheap though).
It seems like I've heard others talk of lowering them and you have to keep in mind that your sidestand may then be too long and the centerstand (if you have it) will be as well.
I'm about the same height as you and similar inseam. I would consider having someone narrow the nose of the saddle a bit, maybe slightly thicker boots, before I messed much with lowering the bike. I would think you can't be missing it by much.

Have you thought about High-Heels ??

Maybe stockings, suspenders and a thong just to top it off ??

I think you'd look quite fetching (well for your Harley buddies anyway) !!

Platform boots would also do it...

Platforms can work!

I actually saw a woman on a B** RS with platform shoes on in Tucson. She couldn't have been more than 5"3" but was able to get a foot down in traffic. The shoes were 1970 vintage and had soles about 2" thick. Walking into the biker bar in platforms might not be the best idea, though!

You're the same measurements as me and I don't have any problem getting both feet on the floor on my 06.
Is the rear preload a little too high? Also how confident and trained are you at slow speed riding techniques. Seems a shame to compromise the suspension and ride height, if it's not required.

No to the heels, stockings and platform soles. Don't let the RN title fool you: I'm all man.

I'll have to look into adjusting the suspension and changing the shock. As this is going to be my only bike for a while, it has better be comfortable on all levels.

As for my Harley buddies, they only get glimpses of me as I blow by them on the road...

seat

I didn't see the adjustable seat mentioned. If you don't already have it in the lowest position try that.
