What have you paid out the door for your Tiger 800? Particularly for newer model Tiger 800's ('14-'16), there is very little info online. Please share!
From what I have seen most dealers should be able to discount between 1-1.3K dollars, or at least that's what I was seeing when I got my 2016 xrt. However that depends on how many dealers you have as if there is only one dealer they have more of a monopoly.
Also 2015 stock can sometimes have a much better mark down.
I bought my 16 XCA in March and basically paid MSRP. From a couple phone calls I made I don't think it would have been much better anywhere else in the area.
It looks like Triumph is discounting the '14-'15 models 1000-2000 but it depends on the model. What are you looking for? There are a lot of different models to choose from, XR, XRT, XRx, XC, XCA, XCx, Exlporer, and each model is priced differently.
"Out the Door" means different things in different places. When I lived in CA, it was everything, including tax and title. Here in Colorado they don't typically collect "Title" but typically collect tax. BUT they don't have to. I've been quoted a price and and it was lower than anyone else. Found out they didn't include tax or title, so it was just there side of the money equation. When I got to the DMV I was hit with another ~1500 bucks due
Also tax varies from county to county where I live. It can be as low as 3.9 all the way to 8.1 percent....
Yeah that's really a tough question. In the middle of prime riding season I wouldn't expect much discount on current model years. If you can find a leftover then you'll have some bargaining power.
Some deal. Some don't. Right now there's a 2015 XRX with one mile on it for $11,000 and no setup fee. I was almost set to buy it till I read that the XRX is a really uncomfortable bike to ride compared to the XCX.
But here's a link that ostensibly gives dealer cost for the bike.
There was a discussion about the XRX elsewhere and an owner posted this:
I felt every little bump in the road. It was very harsh in my opinion. I also felt it would not hold a line on fast twisty roads .I bought the AK-20 fork cartridges and the Penske 8975 from Traxxion Dynamics. $2000 total. There are absolutely no adjustments on the XRX suspension. I knew I might have to do this when I bought the bike. At first it didn't bother me because I was thrilled with a new bike. Then I started to hate it. It's like night and day now and a joy to ride. The XCX is probably good from the factory but I wanted tubeless wheels as well as the lower seat height. The stock XCX was $1000 more than the XRX , so I have about $1000 more into this bike now than a stock XCX.
Id have to look but I got my '14 800 for under sticker here in CA. This was in 2015 so it was last years model, but still a brand new bike, didn't even have fluids yet. It took a lot of waiting and looking around, and settling for a color that wasn't my first choice. They also gave me a one time parts purchase for 35% under retail. So my expedition cases and rack at a good discount too.
I got my '16 XCA for 500 under MSRP out the door (no extra fees, plate included). They were FIRM on a price 2,500 higher than that until so I found another dealer within driving distance (although, I REALLY didn't want to make that trip) that was willing to undercut them by quite a bit. They came down when I emailed them the purchase order from the other dealer.
I feel I got a fair deal, both on the trade allowance on my previous bike, and the selling price on the bike I bought. I'm not going to disclose it here because I don't think it's fair to the dealer. They have to make money to keep the doors open and pay employees. It's tough enough for them as it is with the internet sales on parts etc.
Get a deal that you are happy with and let the dealer make a little money so they might still be around when you need them.:smile2:
