Buying a Tiger - Advice Sought

After much deliberation I'm now intending to add a Tiger to my shed. I would like a 2005/6 955i model. What should I look for or be wary of? I would hope to find a low milege example with the usual factory refinements, alarm, centre stand, panniers etc. Any advice would be welcome. alf

Thumbs up used tigers

I noticed that Flitwick Motorcycles had a couple of 04 Tigers in dk green - looked like they had cast wheels and plenty of history. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the response Bug Eyes. Your Tiger sounds like it fits the bill I may be interested. I'll no doubt have lots more questions but to start, have you any pics and where are you located? Send me a pm. Regards alf

I have a 2005 Tiger fully kitted out - Touratech crashbars,3 box luggage, hugger, heated grips etc. The bike is a perfect long distance tourer. I also have a custom built lower seat which allows me (5'10") to get both feet on the floor, albeit with some loss of comfort with less padding. My bike has 16000 miles on the clock from new and has taken 2 of us to Europe twice and performed faultlessly. Highly recommended bike. I'm undecided whether to keep it or trade in for a 1050 Tiger, but 1050 and luggage doesn't seem as good for 2 up work. Suggest you go to Woods at Abergele. He usually has some decent stock to look at.

Make sure it has a full Triumph Service History, no obvious panel damage, engine sounds ok, etc.

And buy it from a true enthusiast. You will know what one looks like when you go to view the bike and the bike lives in the front room and the wife and kids live in the garage !!

Good luck.

p.s. - I know Dealers are more expensive, but at least you will get some sort of peice of mind with a warranty.

Afew more extras i forgot to mention radiator guards water and oil, front fender extender, and triumph not for road use exhaust, with triumph map...oh and not quite as many miles as i thought. Im up in the northeast area, but if you are serious about buying a mint loaded tiger, im sure you will want this one at this price so, i will have no problem delivering it to you for any inspection you wish to make.

The topcase is a great help, for me. And the off road pipe from Triumph with the Triumph factory flash works wonders.
