Auxiliary Power Outlet Advice

Hi Guys

I'm looking at getting an auxiliary power outlet on my 07 Tiger. I take it there is a spare connection on the bike somewhere to hook the outlet up too?. Anyone know where it is and how easy it is to get to and connect.

Hey Corky,
I had the tech install both the auxillary and GPS power outlets. The GPS hookup was a little more a pain as you have to take off a lot of the front panels. But the auxillary power outlet should be easy for you to install as I'm sure it comes with directions. It sits on the left side of the bike just below your left thigh as you sit on the bike.
As I remember how the tech put it on my bike - I'm sure you'll have an easy time of it. I think the hookup sits under the seat and is very accessible.

The auxiliary power outlet is easy to install; however the connection wires may not be that easy to get to. They are under the fuel tank and wrapped in a piece of blue tape for identification purposes. Some have been able to find them and fish them out without removing the tank; however, I had to remove the tank to get to mine.

Removal of the fuel tank is an early step in many of your maintenance tasks, so I recommend learning how to do it sooner rather than later. Purchase a service manual from your dealer and it will have step-by-step instructions for tank removal. It is actually an easy task--don't forget to use most of the fuel prior to tank removal and plan for a good soft place to sit the tank once removed.

I have the auxiliary output on mine, but what sort of things fit into it? Its smaller than a standard car cigarette lighter, which most things fit. Can you get adapters?

+1 for Powerlet as a source for male BMW type (actually John Deere tractor was using this type connector prior to BMW) connectors. They also have a good selection of adapters.

"...but, what sort of things fit into it?"
Since this outlet is NOT switched on/off with the key, I would recommend using it for things like battery tenders, air compressors, small trouble light, etc. I would install another plug that is wired from switched wires for heated clothing, etc.
