Brought home a Tiger

Left my last message on the S3 site. Took my loaded 07 S3 on a trip to Chicago from St. Louis and after 350 miles of hell went to my old dealer (MCC) and bought a Tiger. He had a 07 demo and gave me a great deal.

What an awesome bike. I have owned just about every Triumph - except a Tiger - and wonder why I waited so long. I never thought I would like the sit up and beg riding position, but it fits me really well. Smooth, powerful and easy to handle. Plus, I love the up-high position. Feels like you can see everything around you. The 350 mile ride home went a lot easier.

My only complaint - which seems to be common - is the windscreen. Major buffeting for my 6'1 frame. I know there are a lot of options out there. I will probably go with a sport screen and a large touring screen. Will probably replace the seat also. Even using a gel pad and sheepskin my butt was sore after about 200 miles. The fact this bike sits up so high works against it when you are riding the long, straight, flat roads of Illinois with a 30 mph cross wind. Minor niggles.

While I was becoming frustrated with the S3 for all of its shortcomings, I can honestly say I enjoy riding again. Look forward to many happy miles on the Tiger.

Sounds like a wise choice. Hope you enjoy the bike for many miles to come.

Hi there,

Glad you have been liberated again by the Tiger! Once you get your niggles sorted out, it should just get better and better!

They definately appear to be different beasts for different people..... some people have different ideas about how to make their Tiger perfect for them, be it screens, saddles, tyres, even oil !!! But that it was makes them so diverse and so much fun i think !!

Enjoy your time here ok.

I too have had numerous Triumphs and agree that this new Tiger is the best all-arounder. The wind screen issue is such a "case by case" fix that it's tough to make recommendations from others. At 5'10"/30" +/- inseam the Cal Sci +9 works well for me. Big, and not too pretty, but sure takes care of the noise.

Enjoy..

Congrats and enjoy.

For me at 6', I get major wind with the stock screen, but no buffeting. I think of buffeting as when the screen gives you very turbulent air to the helmet, which can cause your head to shake hard and vibrate fast inducing major headaches. In contrast the Tiger gives me clean wind to the helmet like I would get on a naked bike - I lean into it, and enjoy it. YMMV.
