On my 20 mile commute, which is slowish A road with about a couple of miles of slow filtering, I get about 47 - 49 MPG. Recently on a long motorway run, sticking at about 80 - 85 MPH, I got 57 MPG.

With the luggage fitted, I get about 48mpg, and 52mpg without. It varies a little with ambient temperature and speed, of course. It starts out a little less than that when the engine is new, but improves after the first service when the normal oil can be used.

Here in Blighty.....

One gallon = 8 pints = 4.54 litres
1 mile = 1,760 yards = 1.6 km

or thereabouts...ish

Yeah sorry guys, I should of been more specific in relation to the answer.

Here in Australia we refer to mileage in litres/100 kilometers or kilometers to the litre, but for us older blokes we still talk in miles/gallon as do our imperial brothers in England.

I convert the mileage we get from the litres to miles/ gallon so I can understand it, even though the metric system has been in place since around 1973.

I realise on the American continent gallons are totally different & are refered to as a US gallon, as opposed to the English imperial gallon.

What system is in place in Canada?

Rob

I get 52~53mpg (imperial) general blatting about. Drops to 45mpg on motorways doing 80mph(ish).

Do you know? These figures are almost exactly the same as I used to get from the Yamaha XJ900S that I bought new in 1984. Similar tank size as well. So similar range etc..
