New Triumph Mag

The new "TriuMPH" magazine which has replaced TORQUE arrived today. There's no more pack news and it certainly feels less personal. More of a corporate identity tool to attract global custom. I know any factory generated mag is always going to be a product brochure in disguise, but this one has no disguise.

Although on the plus side, I did like the stunt pics of the 1050Tiger. You'll not see many Tiger riders doing this kind of thing! He even had GPS and panniers fitted !!

Yep, it's a victory for style over substance. The watch and Maserati ads kind of tell you the market they are aiming at. I hope that they realise we bought Triumphs because real people wouldn't want that whole executive bling thing that the likes of BMW are surrounded by. The article on Mecatwin shows that they have access to a lot of interesting up-to-date stuff, let's hope that they use more of that than the typical PR-found-in-an-airport-waiting-area dross.

Just received the mag and a quick flick through it confirms general opinion that it is more corporate. On the plus side it has articles on Triumph bikes and it's free. Simon Carter is an intelligent guy and I'm sure he'd welcome constructive feedback so I suggest we help him to point the magazine in the direction we want. Personaly I won't miss articles about RAT Pack activities, which is now in the right place on the internet. I'm going to suggest articles on travel, adventure and riding experiences.
