Its that time of year again to arrange the boys trip.
Route - Rosyth ferry, through Belgium down into the south of Germany, through Austria and into North Italy Alps with the intention of riding the Stelvio and Umbraii passes.
Does anyone have any links to good hotels/guest houses heading this direction.

DJR, living in Belgium have you been down this way and if so any recommended stop offs. We will probably only be looking at a stop in Germany overnight on the way down and perhaps 2 nights on the way back, rest of the time in North Italy.

Any suggestions.

Hi IPG
There is a very good clean campsite a stones throw away from the stelvio if you fancy camping, I haven’t got a link here now but can get you one if you want. (See my holiday snaps)
There are so many nice places in Germany that are biker friendly that I have never been without a bed for long. How many are going in your group?
I tend to camp if i am going to stay more than one night in a place and guest house if I plan on moving on the next day.
the biker loft in Oustend is good for catching the early boats, the Mosel valley is a reasonable distance for a first stop. then it is hang rightish for the black forrest or leftish for Austria.

Thanks DJR and Robbie

I found the Motor Biker Hotel site just after I posted earlier so I'm going to have a look at that tonight.

There will probably be 8 in the group, camping is not an option, although some of us don't have a problem camping there are a few in the group who will just not consider it. The good think about camping is that you are more flexible, the down side is more to cart.

We tend to only make overnight stops with perhaps 2/3 nights in one place at our ultimate destination, we would also make it a circular route as far as possible.

I'll do a bit of in depth research tonight.

For nearly 30 years I've had the "turn up & see what's there" attitude to touring. I've only been turned away a handful of times.
Camp sites are plentiful. Hotels even more so throughout Europe.

Bormio is just south of the Stelvio. Decent enough with plenty of choice of food and beer.
