Don't know if anyone has experienced this before, but as a warning to others..beware....
Tigger is insured through Carole Nash (chaucer policy) with me as the only rider. In addition to this policy I also have seperate insurance for the Car, another for my Moped (sad I know!) and another for the Camper Van. "Her indoors" is listed as an additional driver on the Car policy and had a minor bump that was her fault.
I have now had a letter from Carole Nash that my Tiger insurance is going up (£30+)because my wife has had an accident. I have asked the question (politely) as to how my wife having an accident makes me a worse rider, but was just told "all insurance companies do this"!,
I queried this with my other insurances and they don't all do this!, they are not going to increase my premium at all.
So, be careful who you put on as an additional driver and choose your bike policy with care!!!, needless to say I won't be using them again.

NO not all, some!!
bear in mind that most insurance premium hikes have been caused by the bunch of robbing barstewards that are the insured making false claims, etc etc.
Banks yes I agree, they take a lot of interest but do not pay a lot so they win on both counts, robbers, yes.
Pension providers will always pay back as per the terms of the contract you signed. This is a legal requirement and their license to operate depends on this. However if you have not fully understood what you signed for then this can cause massive problems for all concerned - the old adage of read it carefully applies to all products, not just pension or insurance. This should be done before agreeing and if you are unsure of something then ask and never assume the info you are getting is 100% correct. If you think it is not right then ask around. Swoody did just this and found what he had been told was in fact a lie!
If you deal through a GOOD broker then your problems should be few and far between.

So why lie in the first place????.
And as for checking the small print, most of it is uninteligible, and even if it is understood and you sign on the dotted line it's still not worth a jot because the "contract" that has been signed will be changed anyway at "their" discresion.
Swoody,
Was it clear in the terms and conditions of your policy that there would be an increase in your bike premium if the named drivers on your other policies have a bump.

Tango,
I must admit I did not check at the time of taking out the insurance, but will do from now on. I hope to go through the policy tonite and see if it mentions anything. I will keep you posted.

short-sightedness. get it now, worry about consequences later.

then ask for an explanation!! Thats what your broker gets paid for. If you go direct then ask the company.

It can be, but only if you agree to the change. if not you go elsewhere. They must notify you in advance and in writing and supply the amended terms.
There is no excuse for someone not knowing whether they are covered. we can all ask the questions to be sure.
The point is really simple. If you are unsure, ASK before signing. If you really want to be sure get it in writing. best way is to deal with a good broker. They get paid to give you all the facts and to handle all the hassles.
