I've now fitted the MRA Vario Screen and what a fantastic bit of kit! In the past I've wasted a few quid on aftermarket screens that have looked ***** and not delivered, but this ones different.

IMHO it looks better than the standard screen. It's made to a higher standard and fits a hundred times better than the standard screen. And if that's not enough, it does exactly as advertised and makes high speed touring, significantly more comfortable.

Definitely the best £90 I've spent.

A few more details, if you please:

Where did you get it from ??

How much wind noise is there on your helmet ??

How much buffeting are you getting round the head (oh err missus !!) ??

How tall are you ??

I purchased it from http://www.bikehps.com/ who were faultless.

I don't really bother about noise levels as I always wear ear plugs, which eliminates most of the noise and varies with helmet and whether vents/visor is open.

Most bikes, even large tourers will allow some turbulence/buffeting, especially on motorways where wind flow gets dirty. The screen provides protection that is very good for the size of screen and type of bike.

As this subject is quite subjective, I don't want to mislead you. You'll never get complete calm, sat behind a bike like a Triumph Tiger, however this screen is very effective.

BTW I'm just 6 foot.

Regards

Dave

Subjective ?? on this forum ??.... indeed :flam:

You are right though in keeping a realistic expectation of how well a screen will work on a Tiger. They are not the most aerodynamic of shapes are they

Definately a personal thing, a bit like tyres, oil, seats, luggage....... :-D

I agree with you that the MRA Vario is spot on.............. for me.

You are right, it's all down to personal taste.

The Jack Lilley tall screen I bought for my 2006 Tiger is noisy to the point of distraction, with earplugs in.

My previous Tiger had a Triumph origional Tall screen and that was much quieter.

It sounds like the MRA screen does a good job and may be worth the investment.

I don't claim to be a screen expert, but it seems most of the tall screens are tall enough, but not wide enough to direct the airflow round the helmet.

There's a thread on "mods & bolt on's" section showing the 2007 Tiger with a Givi screen on it. That screen looks wide enough to deflect airflow round the helmet. If we could get one like that for the 1999 - 2006 Tiger it would probably work a treat.

The bikes are great, but for me the buffeting spoils a good ride. The other way to go is to take the screen off all together, or get a one cut down, and have clean airflow round the helmet and the wind pressure on the body as well.

Regards,
Graeme.

According to Givi's website:

http://www.givi.co.uk/caschi_borse_b...=18235&lang=en

They already do a screen for an '00 - '01 Tiger (which I'm guessing would fit any pre-1050 Tiger)

Anyone tried one?

I've tried 3 screens - standard,Triumph tourer and Cee Bailey. The biggest improvement is Jack Lilley Mirror extenders. I think the turbelence is caused by the gap between meirrors and screen.

I've recently fitted the MRA screen to my Tiger and they are an improvement on the standard screen when travelling at motorway speeds. I'm 6-1, still noisy around the helmet, but less so than before.

But I do find myself fiddling about with one hand on the adjustable deflector whilst travelling at 80mph ... not recommended!
