Hi all,

after taking a test ride on a Tiger last week, i just cannot forget the feeling in had when aboard.

This will be my first bike, and ideally fits my user profile, however..... my mate say's "try the R1200GS, it fantastic." another says "Got to be the VFR800"

They 'may' be right. But one's a Beemer (does what it say's on the can- and as eye-turning as a Magnolia wall) and the other is, well, ... just is!

I grinned like a drain when on the Tiger, i had FUN. Isn't this what it's all supposed to be about -having FUN. I don't care if it's not the best bike on the planet, i enjoyed myself -so i am going to buy one and join the Triumph family.

I have a chance to get a 55 Tiger in Silver with 800 miles for 5.4k. IS THIS A GOOD DEAL?

Bike looks mint, absolutely mint. Got a touring visor, gel seats, alarm, heated grips, panniers etc.... I am going to see if they will throw in Scotoiler, and Top Box with back rest pad. (Hey -i will be paying cash -Been saving up for this moment)

What's your thoughts. Is 5.4k a good price or not? These are genuine miles and also get the 6 month warranty.

Thanks for reading and i welcome your comments.

Hi Harley

The price........not sure on that, but check Parkers price guide, they are pretty good.

I just bought a '04 tiger with 28k on the clock for £3500 so price doesn't sound bad to me.

As for the smile.................I smile every time I ride it.......best bike I've ever ridden.

If you get it.........welcome to the club...........and you'll be smiling forever.

Get a Tiger, but don't get that one !!

You can get a brand new 2006 Tiger with the same kit, knowing that you will have been the only one riding it, and a two year warranty for £5,999 !!

You won't find a brand new Triumph top box anywhere in the world, as they don't make them any more, and they are as rare as hen's teeth !!

Go on, treat yourself to a brand new one for £600 more !!

Edit: forgot to say, welcome to the forum !!

I can't say whether the price is good, or not, as I'm in the U.S.. Your experience is a lot like mine, however - once you ride one, you want it. I can tell you that 15,000miles later, you'll still feel the same way.

Graeme,

where are you looking. I cannot see any brand new Tiger, with that spec at 5999. Can you send me a link to where you mean.

Thanks

When I say brand new, I mean a brand new 2006 Tiger 955, not the 2007 1050.

Sorry for any confusion.

M&S Newcastle has silver ones in for £5,999. I've just bought one, and so has a good friend of mine.

I also checked out Eddie Wrights at Leeds, the local Triumph dealer at York, and Triumphworld at Chesterfield.

Hope this helps, and good luck with what ever you buy.

OK, it won't have an alarm, gel seat and a touring visor, but it will have everything else you quoted. Personally I think the benefits outway the drawbacks. A two year warranty instead of a 6 month warranty, thats a massive plus point !!

You made a good choice with the Tigers!

I had a hard time reckoning which York you come from - with a name like Harley, it could've been the York on this side of the pond, as that's where they assemble the Harleys. Glad everyone else realized it was the original York over in merry-ole England.

Anyway, good luck and many big grins for you!

Hi all,

thanks for the replies.

Placed deposit on the bike - not concerned with the cost particularly, i believe i have a cracking deal.

Pick up my Tiger on Sat with the addition of Tourtech Engine Bars, Bobbins, Touring Scotoiler and Givi Top Box colour matched with back pad for a few squid extra.

Due to carrying a health challenge, i cannot afford the time to pratt about, and as such the value (immeasurable) is my main criteria not the cost.

Rincewind - thanks also - This York is great, if ever your over check me out and a guided tour is in the offer.

Feels great to see there are others who 'understand' what i mean by the Grin.

Thanks All

1 delighted Newbie.
