Riding home the other day and something flew over my head. I never thought much about it till i saw the front of my bike. headlight unit busted, must have been a bit of glass that flew over me. glad I wear a full face helmet.

anyway, my question is twofold
1) Does the triumph manual show how to align the headlights, (you know the put a chalk mark on a wall etc etc), or do I need to pay the dealer to do it?

2) any good headlight protectors out there?

David,

The dealers will use (or so they say  ) an alignment tool to set them up. But it is simple to do yourself

With the bike on level ground, measure the height of the centre of the lenses from the ground. Transfer this height to a vertical surface (garage wall ?) and put a line of tape or a cross of tape on it at this height.

The main beam should be just a fraction below the line and pointing straight ahead regardless of how far the bike is from the wall. The low beam you should aim to have hitting the ground about 30-40ft in front of the bike and in your case slightly to the right (seeing as you drive on the wrong side of the road out there! ) Just bakc the bike away from the wall that distance and then set the beam down and to the right slightly.

The adjusters are pretty good, and you will find that they don;t need much adjusting after you have fitted them into the headlight frame anyway.

Touratech do some lens covers that are 'robust' looking but very effective, Powerbronze ones are a lot better looking!

hope this helps?

Jim
