Are there any problems with mounting a nws hugger with a oiler if so what? and someone please enlighten me on the exact function of the hugger? does it help keep the chain cleaner? how can it do that with the built it chain guard? Can you then remove mudflap extentions? My ignorance is not so blissful!! :???:

the main reason I would fit a hugger is to keep crap off the rear shocker. Built in chainguard is for looks as the chain guard part does no more or no less than the stock part. I would still keep any mudguard extenders fitted as they stop crap from the rear of the tyre finding its way all over the back of the bike/passenger

When you fit the hugger, you remove the stock chain guard. The hugger has the chain guard built in. It will protect the shock absorber linkage and the piston itself. In my humble opinion it is a must if you ride in any sort of crappy weather at all.

It won't interfere with the oiler at all if the delivery pipe has been mounted sensibly. You can see some pics of the huggers in the Tiger Trails photo album at the top of the forum page

I mounted a Hawke Oiler with the delivery tube just ahead of my NWS Hugger chain guard. The stiff delivery pipe on the end is attached to the downward frame member with wire ties. It hangs out in the air just above the front end of the chain before it goes onto the front sprocket. That setup seems to work well. It is a much cleaner installation than running the tube all along the chain guard back to the rear sprocket. My only reservation is that it might tend to fling the oil off the front of the chain before it gets a chance to work its way thoroughly into the links. I'll have to see if that turns out to be a problem. I like the Hawke unit. It has full manunal control, no adjustments to mess with. When you want to oil, hit the button. Done. Simple.

I'm very happy with the NWS Hugger. Those who say it keeps the undercarriage a lot cleaner have it right. Good kit.

Man you guys are the best,I really appreciate all the input and advice it really helps me in my buying decisions.I like quality products. I am going to go wiyh the NWS(if i can ever get onto their website) and I still am undecided on oilers. It is between the scot and the Hawke.but first I gotta save some pennys for my 12k service. which my dealer says should run me about 300(USD).Again Thanks for being such a good group. I am proud to be a part of it....Stephen

NWS are a top notch company. went to a lot of trouble trying to help me get their hugger fitted to my lowered Tiger. when the attempts failed they were happy to refund me for the hugger.

Look at Pro Oiler if you are considering an oiler. I will be fitting one very soon.
