Hi,
I have just had my bike checked by Triumph and they advised me that all 3 brake rotors are out of spec. This is on a bike that has only done 25,000 KM!!!!!
I have use Carbone Lorraine pads and now Nissin. I admit that I am hard on the brakes, but at a replacement cost of AUD$1,500 - that's Ferrari style running costs.

Can anyone recommend good replacement rotors that are not Triumph?
I beleive that the standard rotors are made by Nissin.

You could try EBC Pro-Lite. I put one on my old BMW R100GS and it was OK. It was, however £150. If you then add £20 for pads, that's £170 per disc. So x3 and you'll end up paying £540. Which isn't too far from AU$1500 I think!

Oddly enough, at 4K miles, I think one or both my rotors are having problems: We lurch to a stop now. It feels like warped rotors. I just noticed it and am planning on making an appointment to check it out. I don't brake any more aggressively than neccesary and have spent no time on the track. Anyone else had this problem?

yes, both of my front rotors are warped at 3500 miles. Triumph is repairing as a warranty item. They sent the wrong part the first time. Hopefully the correct ones will be here soon. No apparent cause found. There was another thread about this a while ago, if I remember correctly.

A local brake disk manufacturer told me that the standard stainless rotors are designed not to rust and therefore look good, but have a problem with annealing. This is basically that if they are hot from heavy braking and are cooled rapidly - like hitting a puddle, the metal that is cooled will harden - permanently, a may warp.
So the message is:
If you ride in the rain, don't use your brakes!
Joking!!!!

I'm taking it in on Monday. The dealer said they'd see what Triumph had to say when they submitted the warranty claim. Asked me if I brake hard: Me, never tough the ***** things! We'll see what happens.

I have spoken to the Triumph warranty guy for Australia and note that they immediately asked if I had ever used non-standard pads. If so, they laugh and take no responsibility.

Hands up anyone who actually has only used ever standard brake pads.
I thought so.

I have only used the oem pads. I used oem on my TT600 and as yet have had no problems with them stopping me. I have always found them to do a good job. it is known that some non oem are very hard on the brake disc's however I know of triumph dealers that use non oem as standard.
