Is it me? Or is the Tiger handbook a little vague...?

I need to replace a headlamp bulb. The book says: "Remove cockpit." Sounds simple... but... the only obvious fasteners are the two in the face panel, that only appear to retain the coloured strip in front of the warning lights.

Can anybody help by advising (in a little more detail than Triumph have) how to "Remove cockpit" ?

Thanks in advance,
'Drew

you need to take off the front fairing to change the bulbs!

Hi Drew
you are looking at the wrong side.

stand in front
remove windscreen 4 screws
remove indicator (air vent) panels 3 Allen screws a side
remove front plastic 4 Allen screws 2 under wind screen 1 each side under air vents
remove light cluster 3 Allen screws
pull forward and unplug each light and the side light connector
change bulbs and refit in reverse order

very simple? not!!

have you tryed to replace a bulb in a Toyota

from the service manual:

Cockpit Removal

1. Unscrew the four fixings securing the windscreen to the fairing and remove the windscreen.
2. Remove both cockpit trim panels by unscrewing the two fixings.
NOTE - The indicator assembly will come away with the side panel. Take care not to strain the wiring.
3. Unscrew the four fixings holding the cockpit fairing to the cockpit sub-frame, and lift the fairing away from the sub-frame.

FYI: Cockpit to sub-frame torque = 5 Nm
Trim panels = 3 Nm
Windscrren = 3 Nm

Headlight/Position Bulb Replacement

1. Remove seats
2. Disconnect the negative battery lead
3. Remove the cockpit
4. Release the screws securing the headlight unit to the support bracket and release the unit (There should be a fixing on each side and one in the center)
5. Headlight bulb only - disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector from the headlight bulb to be replaced and remove the rubber cover.
6. Detach the wire bulb retainer from the clip (it is not necessary to undo the screw) then remove the bulb from the light unit.
7. Position light bulb only - without pulling on the wires, ease the bulb holder from the retaining socket in the rear of the light unit.

Good Luck!

Many thanks to all for your comments :-) I would never have sussed that lot out. Damned glad I had the full compliment of headlight relays fitted... imagine going through that palava on the road-side, in the wet... or snow!

Cheers,
'Drew

Without incurring the national debt by purchasing true xenon generators and bulbs, then i believe the 'Vision Plus' to be the best of the rest. They really are as bright as they say....
