Hi all,
My new 04 tiger is due for a 500 mile service.
It has developed some strange problems:-
1. Erratic fuel guage- one minute i have half a tank , the next it`s nearly empty.
2. Engine cutting out when hot.
3. Backfiring when slowing down-- (throttling off)

Are these just teething problems ?

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi !! bandicoot

I never had any of these probs with mine but as you know there are never 2 bikes the same. your dealer will get it sorted at the service but remember to write it down for them so they don`t forget. if you like the bike now, you will love it when its run in, its an awesome bike.

KK

ps never had a fuel guage before so i don`t know if mine is duff also, i go by the trip meter.

Welcome, bandicoot.

The fuel gauge on my bike goes from full to half in 150 miles, then from half to empty in another fifty. I don't count this as a fault... Does yours go up and down?

The other two are definitely problems. Your dealer should sort you out - I hope so because you've bought an ace bike, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

Good luck!

Bandicoot,

The fuel guage on the Tiger is vague at times to say the least. However the reserve fuel light is pretty accurate, so i tend to go by that instead.

When you say backfiring...do you mean loud explosion type backfires or more of a 'popping' sound. This oten happens on Tigers when decelerating. But the cutting out is definately a problem. Your dealer should check the mapping if you tell them what is happening.

Shouldn't be a problem for them to sort this for you.
And a belated welcome to the world of Tigers! :-D
