Murphy's law. Triumph warrants the battery for 6 months. My bike is 7 months old and the battery quit. 0 V, can't be charged. Must be an internal short, or some other failure.
What brand would you recommend for replacement? I'm not going to be cheap here, reliability is what counts.

thanks!

Hey jaak. I have a one year old Tiger (just purchased used). Any warning signs on that battery failure? Next Wed., I leave for southern TX for about 2000 miles of grinnin' - my battery has been tested and given the OK but thought I would ask... :???:

No warning signs whatsoever. Rode last weekend, worked just fine. Yesterday put the key in, turned, indicators wouldn't come on! I tried to charge it but the charger gave me the red failure light. I pulled the battery out, put a voltmeter to it and got a big 0 volt read. I don't think it's a common thing. I just got back from my dealer's. He's trying to work with Triumph to get it covered under warranty. And he hasn't seen many (if any) failures like that. I wouldn't worry if I was you. But since I'm me and it happened...
Oh well, I just missed a Sunday morning ride, could have been worse!

cheers!

a battery can fail literally at any time, even a brand new one.Although you've been very unlucky as normally at least 3 years. I would go for a Yuasa which you should get from stock at Halfords.

I've had one car battery in all my years of driving/riding go on me very quickly and replaced under warranty.
I had a genuine Yuasa in a bike I bought new in 1991 that lasted 6 years with regular riding. I replaced it with other batteries after that and would get 3 years out of them, which I thought was quite good. However, the Yuasa cost about 50% more, but got 100% more life.

I had the YUASA, it comes stock. And the battery itself is not to be blamed as I have found out by now. My dealer got the thing covered by warranty, so I got a free new YUASA from him. I went home, put it on the bike, connected the wires. Just by co-incidence i put my hand on a grip while putting the keys in. The ***** thing was warm!! Turns out either the heated grips are wired wrong, or the relay is bad, but if the grip switch is on regardless of the ignition the grips are drawing juice! That's how the poor battery died - I parked my bike a week ago and pulled the keys. Grip switch stayed on, but I never cared to check since pulling the keys is supposed to shut everything down. Instead, the grips were drawing their 2 Amps. Battery is 14 Ahrs. 7 hrs, realistically less, and it was done! Keep the draw on for a week and the battery is unservicable!
I have a good dealer. He promised to check the grip wiring and fix it for me.
