Hello all

I have received the second prototype of the carrier.

this is laser cut to the latest design but unfortunately from material that is only 2mm not the 4mm of the design ( it was what was on the machine when i called in)

the photos are taken with it just resting on the carrier as Freddy still has my old prototype fixed to his bike from our holiday where he needed to use it.

if you want a slightly biased opinion of the usefulness of this carrier then ask his wife!

I need 10 people to say that they want one and are willing to stump up £30 for the finished top plate. I can supply the bolts and bottom plates if you need me to but that would be extra, as would post and packing

so far I have the following that have expressed an interest
ME
Freddy
Big Stripey
Tango (Dave do you still want one? as the latest photos of tango show you have take the rack off due to you exhaust)

more photos in my album click below
Sorry they are in the tiger bits not the carrier album

Robbie

I didn't see your original post on this. The plate looks as though its perfect for the Oxford Tail pack and a lot easier to secure too, have you had one of these packs on it?

Hi IPG

not had the Oxford tail pack on it but have had a large load. (check out the picks of the holiday 2003) and if i am dirt riding often put the tank bag on it so that it is not in the way.

Freddy used my first prototype for our European trip this year as Susie was on her own bike I had the back seat clear and Nicky (Freddy's wife) didn't look comfortable at all.

he was using a large tail bag but i don't know of what make and it fitted OK on the rack. may be he will be around hear soon and spill the beans on how rubbish this thing is.

Robbie,

Yep my name is still on the list. 30 quid, an absolute bargain.

I have the rack off when out on my own, it makes tango more aerodynamic  , it also really tidies up the tail, but I've another wee project in the pipeline all will be revealed as and when.

Back to the carrier, good proffesional looking job Robbie, wish I had it when I went to the Kelso bike fest. I had a good quality rucksac on the rack, but with Kim resting on it, it moved back on the exhaust and burnt a muckle great hole in it, (can't blame Kim, I hadn't secured it properly, but i will anyway :-D )

Will it take the Givi mounting plate? even handier if it does.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, CALLING AAAAAAAAALL TIGER OWNERS!!!!!!!

The prototype that I used on holiday is awesome.
When I first loaded the bike up the stuff I had on the standard rack just ended up sliding forward against my wife (Riding pillion). The new rack sorted this problem out immediately. It's dead easy to secure even the kitchen sink to it and your stuff is held really securely.

All robbie needs is 5 more orders and then their will be enough to justify a full run. 30 squid is an absolute bargain.

Look into my eyyyyes, buuuuuuuy one :-D

Robbie,

I probably would like to get one, but what about shipping to the farthest north and west corner?

And what's a squid, anyway?

One question that's not clear from the pics, though: Will it work with factory luggage? The bike it's pictured on has someone else's attachment hardware so it's not clear whether it will get in the way of the factory attachement brackets.

Thanks.

Thanks Madcow you are on the list

Jim it will happen. I want one and the supplier is playing the game (he knows that if he made a prototype of the correct sizes then I would have one for myself and you lot could whistle for one)
I am going to post on the other Tiger sites and see what turns up, after that I will order the first 10 and if anybody wants one after that then they will have to stump up some extra dosh to pay for my overdraft.

Tango the top plate is screwed to the carrier, I was going to see if it could be fitted to the triumph top box base but Freddy let me down on that one. If you need to fit the box then I am afraid it is an unbolt job on the rack and fit the Givi plate.

Paulie I will bump the original thread to the top. I sent the plans to the USA for somebody else so if you have the contacts I will do the same. It works with the standard panniers fitted as that is what Freddy has and he has not reported any problems. In fact he still has not returned the first one! (looks like I will have to sneak around and take it off when he is not looking.)
Failing that I can send one if you what to pay the post or we could look at a swap. I fancy one of them Alaska butt pads.
