Anyone see this last night?
Tested(?) BMW 1200Gs, Tiger, Caponord, V Strom and Multistrada (why?). IMO they had decided that the BMW was the best before any testing had occurred.
None of these bikes is suitable for off road riding. So... lets do some of the testing in a quarry.
Dismissed the V Strom out of hand, same with the Capo. Fawned over the Duke, because it was a fun bike. Grudgingly praised the Tiger but noted that the engine sounded like it was going to explode.
Tiger practicality/value for money score was laughable. The only one that comes with panniers, centre stand and heated grips. Add the price of that lot to the others and look again at VFM.
Like they say, 'why settle for medicrity, demand complete incompetence'.

Just another example of why 'knocking' a succesful British company and a valuie for money bike has become a national sport in this country.
I don't know why they do it, i really don't
Sure the Tiger has it's little foibles, but it is still a remarkable bike that does what it is supposed to. What more can you ask for?. If you wanted to go quarry jumping you would go and get a KTM or something like that. Likewise if you wanted to go across the sahara, a BMW GS Adventure would kick the Tiger's butt. But on the road....any road, bring them on i say!, It would be a different story then
The new Triumph company should be applauded in this country and not panned by the media like it is.
The cynical amongst us know that because Triumph do not have massive advertising agreements with certain magazines and journals, then they get beasted to keep the kawayamhondzukicatti generals happy
Still we know better don't we, so let them have their say and we can sit there with smug grins on our faces instead
There....I can climb down off my soapbox now
Just my thoughts.....

When we say the '05 model, we refer to the new models with alloy wheels, silver frames and small modifications to the rake angle of the forks
Hope that clears things up ?

You can still use road rubber...Bridgestone say that there is absolutely no problem in running 020's with tubes in them.
I know everyone has their own ideas about the pro's and con's of tubeless v tubed issues. From my experience of 35,000 miles on Tigers, i have had no problems at all, pressures have stayed stable under some extreme conditions
Like you, i am not too keen on the new alloys. A lost opportunity by Triumph to make the Tiger look really cool with a set of 5 spoke alloys or something like that
Just my thoughts...........

I wish Triumph would advertise on there bikes a bit better. they should put a badge on the back of the bike as thats the part most folks will see as you take off into the distance leaving them thinking !! what the #### was that. With a badge on the back at least they will be thinking !! MAN them Triumphs are fast !!
they may even sell more bikes. i love the logo for Triumph, even the new one.

Very odd. An '04 here in the US has spoke wheels. The '05 will be the new one.
My '04 came with spoke wheels and Metzler Tournance tubleless tires tubes (I hope!) No problems so far! And man is that bike fast in the twisties! I still gotta see how she handles in dirt though.

Supposedly all is fair in love and cycle wars...However having owned, ridden, and gladly parted with an 73'R90S,85'K75,1998 R1100R(I miss that one)2000 R1100RS and RT.I currently own ONE TRULY WELL MADE BRITISH BEAUTY A 02,Tiger which now has 10k miles as of this afternoon, and I am glad to say I enjoy the cycle more than any i have had in 25 years of riding. so let the "critics with their big budgets fuss and play Favorites. as for us blue collar guys and Gals(fiancee loves her 02 Triumph RS)we will Ride what we know to be the ultimate all rounder.

The metzeler tourances are fitted with tubes. Bridgestone UK and belgium have both now confirmed to me that BT 20's can be fitted with tubes and used on the Tiger with spokes without problem. they say the bike will turn in much quicker with this option.
I have never experienced a problem with having tubes fitted, but as my tourances are getting closer to replacement I wanted to be able to fit more road orientated rubber as although I find the tourances very good in the summer months I find it almost impossible to get any heat into them when it gets cold.
