Spicy,
Should be ok....the filter sizes have varied over the years. You say it is a genuine Triumph part so it should be fine, provided it is only a fraction smaller. If in doubt come back to us and i will go measure the filter on mine and compare if you want ?

at my last service i was informed by the counter person that the size of the filter had been altered. I also heard someone comment it was more to do with who they got the filters from than a tech spec question. My view is that if it blows up with a genuine part fitted then it aint my worry (provided its still in warrenty) !!!!!

Well it seems the new filter is fine I just did not realize that Triumph had change sizes. At least I can put this one on without a "special" wrench. All is well coming up on 12k service..After 25 years 0n bmw this Tiger is an absolute winner

Spicy,
If you are still concerned about the oil filter being different, just make sure the gasket is the same size as the original. Just put the two together and you should have your answer.
The other important thing to check is the thread size, which you have already done. The outside diameter is not as critical so long as the filter will fit in the space provided.
