I have finally got round to getting my aftermarket rear shock for Stripey. I went with the Hagon one with the remote pre-load adjuster.
It was quite a job, particularly having to slacken off the exhaust headers without taking the radiator off!! Putting the new one on was a damn sight easier than taking the old one off, that's for sure.
I have mounted the pre-load adjuster on the left hand side of the subframe, using one of the captive nuts for the pannier mounts. It is within easy reach whilst riding.
It had been set by the manufacturer to a pretty soft setting, but i soon sorted that out and spent an hour or so on our local 'thrash' twisties gettin it at a level that suits me. That done, i can report that it has smoothed things out at the rear end, it turns in quicker and is rock solid when cranked over. None of that skittish twitching you sometimes get when nailed into a bend.
Combined with the recent fork springs upgrade, they have transformed the handling of the bike beyond my expectations.
I'll post some pic's later this weekend into the Tiger Trails album
cheers
