Hi guys, I have just received my Touratech mount and placed it on the cross bar I also bought from TT, I put the mount bang in the middle, OK it will hide some of the clocks but I am not that bothered about it.

Biggest problem is the Triumph Tank bag will virtually obscure the GPS  I use it all the time so I am really piss*ed off that it will make the use of the GPS almost unusable, not really sure what to do now.

I love this bike but certain bits a really starting to pis8 me off, it just is not usable in certain areas, my mates with GS's just don't have this problem, is it because BM are forward thinking and know what the buying public will want from there bikes plus what they will do with them so make sure there is room.

Really dont know what the answer is at the Mo, I dont want to go to the extremes some of you have with making brackets etc and screwing them to the fairing, I just thought it would be simple.

I am aware its mostly because of the shape of the tank  so I am not sure if baglux is the answer.

Mutley pe'd off that things are not coming together

you seem to be very happy with the bike and the tank bag. Why do you consider it a fault against Triumph that an add on aftermarket is unsighted if you are using good triumph parts. Perhaps if Touratech had a warning that it is not useable with a tank bag then there would not have been the problem. You can not blame triumph!

You state the BMW riders dont have this problem. Are they using equally high tank bags? Perhaps you just need to carry less? Identical mounting positions for the gps? Is it that hard to move the unit?

I use the Triumph tank bag with a GPS and XM. I can't see most of the speedo but who cares the GPS keeps watch there. The XM covers the coolant temp.

How big is the GPS?

Why does it have to be mounted on the Handlebar?

Put it in that map pocket on the Triumph Bag.

DJ, no BM's don't have the problem with tank bags obscuring the GPS, and your suggestion to carry less is a bit well inane, I use the TB for all my blasts out on the bike rather than take luggage, it carry's what I need and when on a tour I use it to keep my mobile & my MP3 player which I listen to via my Autocom, plus other essentials that are within easy reach.

I still believe it is the Manufacturers duty to look at what the bike is going to be used for, but hey Triumph don't even put the correct tools in so that you can adjust the chain :???:

2ndspace, my GPS is on a Touratech crossbar which is below the front of the middle of the T-bag, with the TT mount it is still to low and is obscured by the Tank bag, it looks like you are using a handle bar ram mount?

I have emailed TT to see if they have another product that will work with the 2610 mount by making it higher so lets see.

But Baglux may be the answer as I seem to remember it does not sit as close to the handle bars as the Triumph bag.

The baglux will give you the same problem. I have the same difficulty with my Garmin iQue and the Touratech bracket mounted on cross bar and like you I use my tank bag all the time. I've just got the Touratech ram mount (£45) which I will fix to the bars to off set and push the GPS higher and out of the way of the tank bag.

Putting the GPS in the map section of the tank bag as suggested here doesn't work. Most GPS are to big, my iQue fits in fine but you can't see it properly. I also had a problem recently in France, strong sunlight made the map pocket very hot and the iQue overheated and came up with an error code, luckily I could reset without lose of information.

The GS bars are much higher that is why you don't get the same problem. You are able to buy bar risers for the Tiger which would bring them up similar to the GS and probably help the problem.

That's why i didn't opt for the Touratech method. It works fine with an articulated RAM mount (Very solid) there are some pics in the Tiger Trails album.

Because i have my mobile phone mount and UHF radio on the bars, i opted to make the bracket. That said i'm glad i did. It does not obstruct anything and it sits snugly behind the screen ?

I'm sorry you are not happy with the bike in general, but there are solutions to most of the problems that you come across?

Hope it all works out.

Ram makes a number of different mounting options; including one that attaches to your mirror shaft; might want to check them out. I personally use the regular RAM mount with my Baglux. I may try the locking TT mount when they start selling them (for the Garmin 276c) but then again, it sounds like I wouldn't be too happy with it if it sits that low.

The really simple solution is to get the ram mount which is attached to the bars on a C clamp, add any length of extension you need, even above your screen if that's what takes your fancy.

To slag Triumph on the basis of a GPS system is, well, "inane" and to compare them with the GS is bordering on the rediculous, just my opinion of course.

I used the touratech mount with a RAM mount. The TT unit is drilled to accept it. Mounted the RAM on the left side of the handlebars (it's a U bolt) . It obscures only the speedo. The GPS has that alreaady so no loss. Also bought the wiring kit from TT and have the GPS wired strait to the bike. Works a bomb.

One note, however. No point in buying the locking TT mount 'cuz the RAM unit unscrews by hand.
