Just a quick FYI - MCS Scotland (Renfrew) has a white 07 Tiger 1050, 2000 miles on the clock, going for £1000 under list (so ~£6.5k). It's the press bike that's been used in a few magazine articles, so will have town/country and *track* miles on it - if that doesn't bother you there's a bargain to be had....

That is a good price, but like anything new if you wait the thing will come down in price, and be sold with panniers and centre stand !! ( perhaps 18 months down the line and any gremlins will be sorted ). I for one do not fancy the new one and happy and really looking forward to the new riding season with my 06.

However in Fowlers Bristol I spotted a brand new 06 being sold at £6199. It had all the pannier rails so I believe it is with the panniers etc. That is one good price. They had two 55 plated Tigers, in Blue, at around £5.5K one only had a few K on it. I think the price of ours, for trade -ins, ain't going to be too good ?

Yep!

I was recently offered the resistable deal of £3500 plus my 10 month old 06 Tiger to ride away on a new 1050 without panniers, heated grips, or centre stand !

At least it made it easy to walk away.....

So that's a £3000 depreciation, which is what nearly every one year old bike loses from new,I had that experience when I traded my Sprint RS. A mate of mine got a trade-in quote for his 1 year old R1 against a 1050 Tiger and he was looking at a £5000 loss ! So he's not trading just yet (he had a similar offer against a KTM so it's not just one dealer). It's just not economic to swap bikes every year from new. We have to bear in mind that the 05/06 Tigers with accessories included for £7000 was an absolute bargain as the bike was at the end of its production life. Just like the last of the old STs. The new Tiger is a lot of bike for £7500 compared to other manufacturers e.g. any supersport 600 is about £7300. I'll wait until my Tiger is 2 years old and has done the European trip in June and then see about a possible trade-in. As ever if the deal is the right one I'll do it,otherwise I'm happy enough with my 05 and these Tigers seem robust enough to last a long time. I'm still weighing up whether to keep the Tiger long-term and add a 2nd hand Speed Triple for solo fun with the boys, but S3s hold their value and it could be an expensive option. Really I know that the 1050 Tiger is the next bike for me so I'm delaying the test ride in xase I make an impulse purchase, which is normal for me. I only bought the Tiger because I popped into Woods on the way home for a cup of tea and left having traded in my Daytona Centennial - try explaining that one to the Wife !

Jack Lilleys were advertising '06s for £5999OTR. There are some good prices out there if you're in the market for an '06.
I also spotted an '07 ex demo in white in Rosners (Saunderstead, London) for £6699.

If you are in the market for a new one the ex demo is not a bad route to go down, however how many demo's come with the panniers etc etc.

Amazing but true. My first Tiger in 99 was a yellow 885cc. It was an ex- demo from Hugenden M40 and I chopped in a 96 'P' plated Sprint for same. It had done 5K miles and was 6 months old
They were up front with me and said it was a Triumph fleet press/ bike. It had been totally serviced, new 'hero blobs' Chain, sprockets, tyres, and the rest. I saved a shed load on a new one, and was really happy with it, until........ I saw MY bike in a Magazine Road test, against some other trailees. And it was being ridden in the surf on Newquay beach in Cornwall !! I was reading a Bike mag at WH Smiths when I spotted it, and my Mrs was peering over my shoulder ! Somehow Bikes and sea salt water did not seem to fit, and it gnawed at me. End result, I chopped it in a few weeks later at another dealers against a New 885 Tiger, and on paper got £200 quid more I payed for it ! :-D

I'd beg to differ here John.

The new Tiger has devalued the 955i beyond normal depreciation. Last year I swapped an 18 month old Tiger for a new 955i and it cost an additional £2250 in cash terms.
Even allowing for the increased list price of of the 1050 my current 955 bike has reduced in value by an additional £750. And thats without making any allowance for it being only 10 months old. Oh and lets not even mention panniers etc.

Maybe the market difference will improve once the intial launch period is old news and competitive discounting begins.
