What a hoot!

Yesterday, the UK Tigers group had a brilliant day up on Salisbury Plain hooning around on the army ranges and gravel roads that criss cross the plain all over.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. I will admit to a little apprehension prior to the off, but it didn't last long after the brothers Kemp disappeared in a cloud of dust, and me realising that you can actually ride a Tiger at more then 10 mph on gravel roads!. It is always nice to know that our resident journo and photographer Richie was on hand to record the events and share in 'The smell of fear!' The image of Richie when her turned up at one of the stops last and completely covered from head to foot in krud and mud, will live in the memory for some time! And all 8 of us laughing like naughty schoolboys all the time....

Then came the puddles................Oh boy the puddles!, some were shallow some were ocean like in dimensions. All of them no problem for any Tiger....except three of us that is :-) My puddle was filled with mud coloured marshmallow that just swallowed the front wheel whole, and then making a sharp right turn unaided. Me, i ended up chewing stinging nettles and mud. The bike ended up on it's side undamaged (Touratech bars worked a treat) and i am sure i could hear it s******ing it at me......b**st**d! Thanks Mark and Steve for the lift up!
It's kinda hard to pick up a Tiger when you are laughing so much!

I got up to the next stop to find that Mike had been chompin' on dirt as well so i didn't feel so alone in my shame. Also Preston had not gone unscathed, pouring water out of his boots must have lightened his steamer by several kilos.

A fantastic day, just so different than the normal road runs. Got to do it again next year somewhere. Steve, thanks for your company riding there and back. And BIG thanks to Preston for putting the whole day together. I will ask Richie (Dixie2) to post some pic's up in the next couple of days

Taken me 4 hours to clean the bike up and straighten the tope yoke up again, but well worth it. If you could'nt make it this year folks, you must make it a date next year.

Cheers everyone

Jim

Yes Jim, Rich a subliminal day in the annuals of Tigering if I
hadn't been there I would not have believed it.
One of the most fun days I've had for a long time, what a stupid
thing to do such fun.
How I avoid No how the tiger decided to stay upright I've no idea?
Bike half out from under me chalk soup all round, left foot down and
the bloody thing bounced out of the rut shook its self down and
carried on like I new what I was doing.
Preston thank for an awesome day and evening.
Jim thank for letting me tag along.
If you weren't there you must do the next one shows what these bikes
can do if unlashed.

You'll pay that for a top KTM these days! And it's compulsory to take them in the dirt.

Sounds like you all had a good hoot. I know the plain quite well and I think the Tiger would be ideal for the faster of the tracks.

As for picking them up. Bloody heavy when laying down for a rest.

Doubly so if you’re giggling like a bunch of schoolgirls.
And yes most capable on the dryer less rutted sections.
But terrifying in a fun way on the glooppy heavily rutted sections of trail.

Laydeez and gennelmen

Roll up for the pictures of the salisbury plain
tootle.

I'm attaching a link to photobucket where I've put
them.

Pictures seem to be in the order of last first, but
not to worry. The day started and ended at the Red
Lion at Avebury with a big chunk in between of full on
balls out rock 'n roll yeehaa.

Those who missed it missed a fantastic day. Make sure
you're at the next one.

PS If anyone wants a full size version of any photos,
email me and I'll send it through.
