Just got an '05 Tiger and I love it. One problem has surfaced, though. The bike developed a very rough idle and it has moved up the rpm range to the point where slow speed riding is accompanied by some surging. And it was SO smooth when I first got it.

It's back at the dealer now and they're having trouble figuring out what's wrong. And they're apparently not getting much help from Triumph USA. The service manager said it's usually just a matter of a little tuning with his "Gameboy" which I assume is his diagnostic computer. And he found out that the injection map can no longer be modified as Triumph has "closed the loop" so that it can't be fiddled with anymore. Some sort of EPA thing supposedly.

So do any of you Tiger owners have similar experiences you can share with me? And is there someway for a lowly Triumph owner like me to contact Triumph directly with questions like this? A customer service number????

Thanks for your help. This is a great site.

Tigger 2,

Check out the earlier thread "Latest Tiger Tune", i think all your questions will be answered there. It does seem like there is a potential problem with the tune/ecu units on these later Tigers.

Might be worth showing your dealer some of the threads as well ?

Good luck and let us know if they come up with anything definitive please.

Cheers
