I have an 03 DL1000 V-Strom that I have 55,000 troublefree miles on and an considering making the change to the new 07 Tiger. This would be my first Triumph.
Anyone have experience with both of these bikes ?
Anyone know what the output rating is for the alternator ?

TIA,
Bob

Dr. Bob...
The '07 Tiger is much LESS roomy than the previous
models.

If it fits you well then it may work for you...

But going from a 1000 V to the new Tiger would be like moving form a 4 bedroom home to 1 bed studio apt!

As you know, I'm not a Tiger expert.
Curious about your statement....
"much LESS roomy"
Would you mind expounding upon that a bit for this newbie? :???:

I believe he's talking about the saddle. The saddle on the new beastie seems narrower and generally less "roomy" than the one on the previous models. The Strom saddle is also large.

Feb issue of Bike magazine compares Tiger 1050/multistrada/dl1000/r1200gs.
Tiger and bmw comes out top.
However its always down to personal choice.

I have never been on either the VStrom or the New Tiger but on paper the new Tiger -

is 20 pounds lighter

Has More Power

Has Quicker Steering (based on rake and trail)

Has 17" wheels front and rear

Has better brakes

Has better and more adjustable suspension

Comes with an ABS option

But

Costs ~$1700 more (Non ABS version).

Depends on what you are looking for.

Almost forgot the most important difference.

The Triumph triple engine is a dream to ride and there simply is no comparison to that lump of a V-Twin in the Strom.

I have test ridden the V Strom and mounted the new 07 Tiger with the wife. I'm a big guy (6'4") and I can say that the new Tiger is more roomy than it looks. Wife was very comfortable. I have been involved with Motorcycle design and ridden many bikes. The Tiger is the best "tall arounder" on the planet. Although they are both great bikes, the engine, handling and ergos are superior on the Tiger.
