It might seem like a daft statement, but yesterday I had to take my 05 Tiger in for service work. The trip is about 70 miles, part motorway and then A roads to Wales. I haven't been on the Tiger for about a month as I've ridden my 95 Tbird in October before winter arrives.Getting back on the Tiger I immediately enjoyed the riding position, comfort and performance, particularly on the motorway, which is hard work on a naked bike. I carved thrugh the back roads and arrived at Abergele. The Tiger went into the workshop and I was talking to the staff ( I've been a customer for 10 years so know them pretty well). To pass the time I asked for a test ride on the Daytona 675 and they said ok. So off I went. The D675 is a great bike and so compact. I decided to try the twisties around the Denbigh Moors but unfortunately the weather turned inclement ( not uncommon at this time of year ! ). So the roads were wet and greasy and covered in leaves. I generaly took it steady. The good bits were the engine noise under acceleration, performance etc.I was surprised how torquey the engine was and also the good engine breaking and lovely gear change. The bike is a delight to ride and is certainly quick enough. The bad points are what you would expect of any sportsbike. From memory I would say it was a bit more comfy than my previous 02 Daytona 955 but it still means cramped joints, stiff neck and a plank-like seat.It was fun for 50 miles (although dry roads would have been better) but I would definitely rather do 500 miles on the Tiger.

John, I had the pleasure of a blast on a friend's D675 just before she sold it and bought an MZ. I agree, it's a delight to ride and quite intoxicating.

The lasting impressions for me were the instant response (I mean INSTANT) to any rider input and the tiny-ness of the bike. When looking at the road ahead you felt like the bike was invisible. I suppose I've got used to seeing a bit of bike in front of me on the Tiger.

A great bike and probably a future classic ala GPz900R...but I won't be buying one!

Jon

Your friend traded a D675 for an MZ ? Wierd !
I don't think I would be tempted by a sportsbike, having owned one I've got it out of my system but I can certainly appreciate how good the D675 is. I could be interested in an offshoot with the same motor but more relaxed ergos. It would make a nice change from the large capacity Hinckleys. No doubt Triumph will offer variants in the next couple of years. It is definitely a lot nicer than the 600 4's.
